I agree with everyone here! I'm 15 years old and have had alopecial for 13 years of it! I got my wig pulled off at the beggining of the school year and have been teased ever since! why do people have to be so mean? were all unique! maybe they should use a little thing called empathy i mean i could wear a wig for the rest of my life and could care less "God only made so many beautiful heads all the rest he gave hair!"-unknown that has been my motto since i turned 12 years old!

Merry Meet Everyone...
Personally, it would not end well if someone said anything in my presence to or about my wife and love. This falls under the heading of suicidal, but rare as an adult; but my heart really goes out to the children with alopecia because kids with their groups and peer pressure and crossing so many boundaries to fit in are the ones of gentle hearts who shed their tears each night and take the pain given them by the ignorant. There needs to be some alopecia ads on television. I saw one yesterday for children with epilepsy and it was great, with the do's and dont's a wee lass saying that when it is all over, she is still the same person. We have enough hate in this pathetic world without giving the hate mongers another target.

Love and laughter,

Herne

I have found that people who judge other people based solely on their appearance are people who spend way too much time in front of a TV set. Thus developing a distorted sense of acceptable appearance or self image.
I consider myself to be very open minded when it comes to appearances, I accept tattoos, body piercing, wacky clothes...just about anything.
But when I was at a shopping mall I saw a few young teenage boys walking
around with their pants buckled around their thighs. I was disappointed in
myself for even noticing how weird they looked and at my anger of wanting
to beat them up. They looked sooooo stupid! I know the style today but these were to low. Then I started to think there are probably people who
when seeing my bald head feel the same way about me. So I know its wrong
to judge people by appearances, and I did control my instinct to make those
guys aware that they looked like idiots, and I minded my own business. :)

How incredibly brave of you. I rely on people like you who are confident enough to have a voice and spread the word about our condition. Thank you!
