When I went back to work I thought all the women were looking at me feeling pity, than one of the ladies had me do her eyebrows because that is what they were looking at,they all really liked the eyebrows .( we even went shopping for the eyebrow pencils that I use) so like Cheryl said we are always thinking the looks are negative, Oh contrary Ladies we may be being looked at for positive reasons, so heads up and all good thoughts. : )

Here's a YouTube link to part of the Desparate Housewives episode. The character appears beginning at about 2:20 in this clip:

Yeah, Linda - I noticed that guest actress on Desparate Housewives. I've looked for a photo online to share here, but haven't found one. She definitely had a shaved head, and a very strong attitude - and she's beautiful.

Welcome, Lily! I think there are many of us (like me) in this Sisterhood Group who don't need to shave any more, but we all share pride in our beautiful bald heads!

I am a few post behind ;), but once I stopped looking to see if others were looking, I hardly notice it anymore. I just go on about my business. rj, my husband sometimes notices, but a lot of times he says that he KNOWS that they are thinking that his woman is fine by the way they are looking ;) So sometimes the looks are not what we think.

As for hats, I can't stand anything on my head, so I tend to not wear anything. I think my head has adjusted to the cold.

Did anyone else notice the maid on desperate housewifes had a shaved head? I was so happy to see her and they gave her a very strong role ,she was great ,going to try and find out who she was.

Oh, I love this group! What great discussions.

Carol - you're absolutely right. When I was first going "out" bald, I would look for THE reaction, and usually get it. Now that I'm not thinking about it and just go about my day as I am, I rarely notice it.

Sonia - I'm in a similar situation with my eyebrows right now and I may face the same decision. I have one that's looking mostly grown-in, but the other is just a pathetic patch of hair that may be shrinking. I've been wondering the same thing. Yes, you have to laugh!

i think carol you've hit the nail on the head (no pun intended) when i look for the reaction i see it and get it, so less looking or thinking bout it which sounds like a daily excercise ugg i hate excersie.....lol.

i was thinking about cards to explain and can get them free at vistaprint.com.
i think i'll use your words mary, precise and to the point.

my world is quite male, and i need some girlie advise my right eyebrow has started the fare-thee-well dance, so qu: when 1 goes would it look better to get rid of the other or have 1 real and 1 chalked on?

God it really cracks me up i never in a million years thought i'd be asking that question, please dont surgest an eye patch i'm daft enough to do it lol.

Thanks, Dara. What I wear around the house and even out sometimes when I need warmth is this Hats with Heart "turban":

http://www.hatswithheart.com/storecategories.php?id=1&PHPSESSID...

The thing is - and I've told Hats with Heart this - I wear them inside out because I don't like the lines that the seams make in my bald scalp! I often take the cap on and off as I get warmer or colder, and I don't like having those imprints of the seams. Is anyone else bothered by this?

There are lots of scarves and wraps out there. Let me know if you need some more links. You might find some on AW under discussions about headwear.
