YESSSS! I'm so happy for you, and so proud of you, Nicole! When I first started going "out", I thought people would drop things in the supermarket, or scream, but nothing happened. It only gets easier.

I've NEVER had anyone be cruel. That doesn't mean it won't happen. But, I've had so many positive experiences. These days I don't even think about being bald...it's just who I am.

Hello Everyone! Great news! I went outside today with my bald shaved head for the very first time without a scarf! I almost froze up thinking people would be horrified or think I had Cancer or AIDS, but it was actually easier than I thought. It was scary but I just took one step out the door, then another, and was outside in the sunshine before I knew it :)

You can definitely see the extent of my alopecia; I have about a total of 30% of my hair left because the alopecia areata patches have spread and merged into larger patches across the back, sides and top of my head. Since my hair is black and my scalp is rather pale, the differences in color where I have hair compared to the patches and bald swatches are still very painful for me to look at. But I do try, and to smile at myself at least once a day in the mirror :)

I felt like I would be better prepared for NBO day if I tried it sooner rather than later. I hope to spend a whole day out and about on NBO day. I know I am going to have to accept the good and the bad reactions I get from people. People can be cruel... but they can also be wonderful :)

WooHoo, this is soo great, a National Bald Out Day for the lovely women of Alopeciaworld. I hope the men join us too, Thea, maybe a few manly tee shirts are in order? Maybe...well, I'm so excited, the video is great, Mary you and Thea "ROCK" like Rollin' Stones!

Hi Mary ,The Video was great. I have been forwarding it to all my family and friends. I also sent an e mail to a locale news station we will c if they get back to me, I will keep u posted on that. Thanks so much for all of your effort!!!

Thanks, Amber - and thanks again for being in the video.

I hope many women will go out proudly bald on that day, just to try it and be seen...even if they don't live someplace where there are other women to share it with. ( :-)

I can't wait to wear my T-shirts...I ordered all 3 designs.

Wow!! You did an amazing job on the video, thanks for including me.
I'll definetly get a t-shirt I feel like I'm the only one in my area with alopecia ,so going out will be a lonely affair for me I'll do it with pride though:)
