p.s. Galena,

Maybe I was misunderstanding your suggestion - were you thinking about a symbol on the T-shirts, or for use on posters, websites, etc?

Thanks, Galena! I love the idea of a symbol, but I don't know if we'll have one on the T-shirt this year. Thea is working on the T-shirt design, and it will be sold through her Bald Girls Do Lunch website. I'll pass along the question to her in case she doesn't see it here.

I like a swan.

hugs to all,
Mary

Hi Mary,
I love the idea of the Bald Out Day in July! I don't particularly care for the pic of me in Sepia (the one in the home page) being in your video. I will send you my favorite of the four I took earlier this month. Have you thought of a symbol? I would like to suggest a swan. I thought of the butterfly, but it's so overly used as a symbol of transformation. What do you or the other Sisters think?
Hugs,
Galena

Hi all,

Sorry for the confusion, but I just realized that I am able to save your photos directly from Alopecia World onto my computer (I'd never tried this). So, there's no need for anyone to email me a photo. But, I would like to hear from anyone who authorizes me to use their photo in the YouTube video about National Bald Out. You can post here, or on the National Bald Out discussion, or send me a message. Thanks!

Thanks, Sandy. If anyone else wants to give me their private email, do it via a message through my profile page. Hugs back!

Hello Sisters,

Sorry for the duplication if you see this elsewhere, but I wanted to make sure everyone in this group sees my update on my Discussion about The National Bald Out. I'm working on the video that I want to put on YouTube, and hope to have it completed shortly. It's going to be short (about 2 minutes) and to the point. National Bald Out is Sunday, July 19, 2009.

Several people made a suggestion I think is great: put photos of some bald women in the video. My idea is to put a slide show at the end of the video, maybe after saying something like: "Here are some of the proudly bald women you can join on July 19, 2009". This will be added encouragement to women who see the video who are wanting to try out the bald look, and might consider it on The National Bald Out.

There are beautiful photos on AW - but I will need to have the personal authorization of any women to use their photo, and I think I'll need them to email me the photo so I can have it on my computer and drop it into my video project. I've asked rj if he has any ideas how we might expedite this. Anyone who consents to the inclusion of their photo should be aware that YouTube makes photos viewable and useable by anyone out there.

In the meantime, please post back and say whether or not you'd like a photo of you included.

More news soon.

Thank you, Galena. I'm feeling really good about this, but at the same time realizing that it might be something that has to grow year to year. I think that I'll shortly be posting a plan of some sort, and asking for specific input on things like t-shirts or a symbol.

Hello and Happy Easter Sisters!!
I responded on your blog Mary, but I wanted to place my endorsement here as well. I realized at a recent outing with my daughters that my going without a head cover is a sign of strength for them. By showing them how I've processed into self-acceptance, they too gain confidence to confront any obstacle. The National Bald Out Day is an excellent idea. I hope that by the time we lock a date down, we will have t-shirts or a symbol to wear along with our beautiful baldness to commemorate the day.
