I carry cards (business card stock I print at home) that explain about AA and give links to AW and to my YouTube videos. I've posted this before, but here's what the cards say on the front side (the back has the links):

It's not cancer, it's not contagious
IT'S ALOPECIA AREATA

An auto-immune disease affecting 2%
of the population.

Thank you and have a nice day.

nice answer,,I know she did not mean to be unkind but its hard when your feeling good about yourself and someone says something to you about your looks,,The public means well they are just uninformed ,right? we have to get them informed,,this is what I tell myself

Once when a checker at the supermarket said to me "And what are you fighting?" , I responded without hesitation "Traffic". ( ;-) Then I explained.

So yesterday I had a woman say " you look like your battling something" I was polite and told her what I had, but walked away feeling really bad, like I looked terrible, and I thought how do you answer someone , and tell them there may be a better way to ask that question,,I dont feel it is ever polite to comment negatively on someones looks,,? right?

What kind of make up are you wearing...gorgeous...I keep asking myself, what took me so long to finally come to reality...God was holding me and now He has delivered me. Thank you Jesus!

Hi Mary, I allways had to shave some white and last year some dark islands too, it's just a 3 minute-task of morning toilet... but this hair is non-sens on my head....
Recently I got eye brows tatooed, and I am sooo happy with it.

Hello dear Sisters,

After having ZERO hairs on my dome for over 3 years, I grew some white shorties in spots. It began about 6 months ago, and I let it grow...waiting to see if it would cover my scalp...alas, it just formed some little white islands of fuzz that stood up in a sea of slick skin. SO, today I shaved it all off, and I feel SO MUCH BETTER - clean and smooth! This is the first time I've shaved since about March 2008 when I stopped having to. Yeah!

Insults come in all packages ... and eventually they bounce off. Not that it won't remind you of the times it hurt so bad ... yet you are getting stronger each and every day. I just recently had a man ask me" WHAT ARE YOU ... A MAN OR A WOMAN" My first reaction caught him right off guard ... I was walking in front of him, so I turned around, and gave him a BEAR HUG, saying "YOU TELL ME" Damn that took so much courage on my behalf, cause I was so annoyed with the insult, by him thinking he was being cute. This man was in his later 70s, SO I MADE HIS DAY! After all, a younger woman "BALD AT THAT" hugging him.
One is never shocked by negative responses and stupidity, yet deep down would love to be left in peace to go about our day without harassment. I just think to myself, damn idiots have no clue that I received another notch on my belt
with them giving away their energy to me. I have learnt to accept the negative of others and use it to my advantage!
You know that saying ..."WHAT DOESN'T KILL ME MAKES ME STRONGER"
Bring it on........
