Hi Fannie, I understand the alone feeling. I have been dealing with androgenic alopecia for 15 years now and I have always felt alone when I think about it. Although family and my best friends were always and are supportive, it just isn't the same because they haven't exactly been thru what we have been thru.

Finding AW really helped me mentally and spiritually deal with it finally thru really talking to someone about it.

You are not alone, just remember that!

This site helped me get through many a lot. At my darkest times, I knew there were people here who knew exactly what I was going through. Friends are helpful, but they had NO clue what I was feeling. People here do! I know how you are feeling!!

Thank-you Fanny and others for this!! I totally relate to what you are saying. I'm a 48yr old and I've had AA/AT now for 3yrs. Although we all have loved ones and friends that are supportive, I think only fellow Alopecians understand the loneliness that we feel. My life has drastically changed with the onset of Alopecia but I'd like to think it's made those of us that have experienced this, stronger....although alone. So I thank all of you here on this site for the shared empathy! Let's stay strong together in 2011!!!:)

hi fannie,had AT since 2001 an you are rite does feel like you are alone even with lots of fam and friends around that feeling for me comes and goes I guess over the years it bugs me less an less
