Hi Megan, you may want to try the aasc ensite that Maude runs. Maude as organised a weekend event in Chepstow in September, we went last year for the first time and it was great for Jess to meet other young girls with alopecia. Its a full on day with lots going on rounded off with a disco on the night. There are lot of people who attend along with people of all ages, may be worth looking into as there are other girls there of a similar age to you. x

Hello! I'm Megan from East Grinstead (not far from Brighton). I was really pleased to find this UK based group, at the moment it seems like all my online friends are American, it just feels a little more real befriending people who live nearer-by :) X

Yeah, its quite a skill we have now... I went through a phase of always being extra nice to people, living and working in diverse London I felt that a white 'shaved' headed person could look quite threatening (all I needed was a staffy dog to complete the look).. Funny how we perceive ourselves! I still manage to get a seat by myself on the bus, which in London is a treat.

Hi Liz, welcome to UK Members! I live in London and from Glasgow originally, pleased to read about your trip to visit the galleries here, I'm so lucky to have them on the doorstep and rarely go, doh.

Keep well and enjoy the natural look, I'm getting used to mine now, ignore the stupid people you frequently meet. I just smile at them, and I guess scare them off ;-)

Besy wishes Chris

The event will see children from all over the UK come together for a fun packed weekend of cowboy and indian fun at Scarborough's very own Wild West. The purpose of the event is to allow children and parents to meet other families who suffer the consequences of the devastating condition alopecia. The weekend break for these children has been based on the American model run for the last six years and aims to deliver confidence and help children adjust to life with this condition. Throw in some empowerment and acceptance then kick it up with a cowboy and indian theme, campfires, fancy dress and outdoor activities to bring the children's best ever experience yet.

Although the event is aimed at children there is no stopping a group of adults joining us in the fun. We have a group of the BeBold adults attending.

Prices are as follows but will be sold strictly on a first come first served basis. We have limited availability at the site.

Furnished Tipi / Cowboy Shacks £ 50.00 (Holds up to 2 adults & 3 Children or 4 adults)

Unfurnished Tipis £30.00 (Holds up to 2 adults & 3 Children or 4 adults) £ 30.00

I have 10 camping pitches where you can bring your tent which will be offered for free.

For further information and to request a booking form please contact me darren@bebold.org.uk
