Hello Vancouverites! Connecting is one of the best ways to feel happier and become more informed! Come as you are, whether you are shy or outgoing. This is a genuine and fun group where all of us - new to alopecia or experienced, hair-wearer or au natural, seeking treatment or not - all come together and be supportive, informative, and positive for one another. After 4+ years of running this group, I can say for sure that you'll feel better after a meetup! :)
Come to our monthly meetups, or, start by joining this group and be in the loop of upcoming meetups! Sometimes I include alopecia news / remedy / stories too.
If your kid / teen has alopecia, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with other parents! It'll be, I believe, quite awesome for your child :)

@btflbaldgrrl - Celiac's disease is in my family and when I was tested for wheat allergies, amongst other things... it was off the rickter (sp?) scale as far allergic reactions - the Naturopath says that there is a good chance I have celiac's disease. I also have leaky gut which I am treating with a special diet and I am sure that that is also going to speed up hair growth as well.
BTW . .. There is new gluten-free alopecians group on AW now. Check it out!
Chris, can you give us a quick hit list as to hidden gluten? So far I have been targeting non-wheat grains such as spelt, but also sauces, dressings, and gravies.
So why do you think you have celiac's? Could this not just be another argument for a gluten and autoimmune connection, more generally (including AA)?
Pretty sure I will not be there on Saturday, given my impending performance. : )
Just one more thing I wanted to post..... I seem to be responding well to the gluten free diet (now that I have identified where gluten is hiding in certain foods such as soya sauce). My body hair is starting to come back (found arm hairs today) and I have very small hairs poking up through my scalp. So I recommend to all of you, if you haven't already been tested by a Naturopath, to go and get food panel allergy tests. It can save a lot of grief (cost is about $300). The blood test the GP gives you is not always acurate - mine came back as negative for celiac's disease and yet there is no doubt that this is what I have.
Wow - great that new people keep joining our group. I have been debating about coming to this meeting because it is in the middle of the day and I really need to study for my last two exams. So thank you JLo for hosting again but I am going to give this one a miss and I will be sure to come to the next one. Also, I am happy to host at my house as well.
@elenore and @elizabeth Sorry to hear you can't come to this one! Next one for sure!
@elizabeth Help would be awesome! I think Dana is hosting the next one, and this is the 2nd time JLo hosts the meetup. We're always looking for new hosts :)
Hi Everyone, I was hoping to meet some of you this Saturday, but looks like I have to work. I have a deadline next week and unless I work this weekend, I won't be able to finish. I hope next month I am able to assist as long as the meeting is before Aug 6th when I have to go to Ontario for work. Cheers, Elizabeth
Hi everyone, yes, I'm still here. But sad to say I will be out of town this weekend and will not be able to attend our next meetup. I was looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting some of the new ones. Next time!
Welcome Danielle! Glad you found us :)
Thanks for providing all the info @btflbaldgrrl!
