Hello Vancouverites! Connecting is one of the best ways to feel happier and become more informed! Come as you are, whether you are shy or outgoing. This is a genuine and fun group where all of us - new to alopecia or experienced, hair-wearer or au natural, seeking treatment or not - all come together and be supportive, informative, and positive for one another. After 4+ years of running this group, I can say for sure that you'll feel better after a meetup! :)
Come to our monthly meetups, or, start by joining this group and be in the loop of upcoming meetups! Sometimes I include alopecia news / remedy / stories too.
If your kid / teen has alopecia, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with other parents! It'll be, I believe, quite awesome for your child :)

This group gets together monthly at one of the members' homes - a cozy, positive, and fun environment, for those with alopecia. We are here to support one another, and every meetup has been amazingly mood-lifting.
Join us here and we'll send next meeting details to you in a group email!
You can always get a hold of us via AW messaging or at alopecia.vancouver[at]gmail.com
We are affiliated with CANAAF (Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation).
Next meet up: We meet about once a month. Please email Tanya at the emil address above!

In case anyone missed it the first time, ABC's 20/20 is reairing Georgia Van Cuylenberg's interview tonight at 10pm pacific.
We are also getting close to our next gathering. Not sure everyone is using the calendar, so if you are able to PM me on AW regarding your attendance, that would be great! Again, I am managing the food this time, so no need to bring anything. : ) Sunday 27 May, 2-6pm.
Yoga update . . .
I had a really affirming and open conversation with the manager of Yyoga Highgate this afternoon. She is committed to the idea of running a workshop - yin for the vancouver alopecia areata community. She is going to explore it within Yyoga, and the next step will be to market the workshop by Yyoga channels.
So keep this on your radar folks, and spread the word. What I think will be just grand is if the workshop attracts additional alopecians from outside of our group, and offers even a few the comfort of a yoga class and further individual possibility.
And on another note, if you have not seen this and the idea of supporting this young woman to go to a NAAF conference, consider. Also just a good read. http://www.chadestes.com/2012/05/holding-out-hope/
Yoga update . . .
I am in the process of scheduling a meeting with the manager of Yyoga Highgate. She is interested. : )
Our next gathering . . .
- my home, Sunday 27 May, 2-6pm
(message me if you need address and directions, I am near Edmonds Skytrain Station)
- instead of a potluck, I would like to put on a big pot of soup and one or two other simple things, as well as beverages (focus on vegetarian, gluten-free, etc). If you want to throw me a toonie when you arrive, cool. : )
- I would like to highlight a few on-line resources during our time together, and would invite others with a conversation focus to give me a shout in advance so we can have a few topics and ideas to share with one another.
Cheers!
@Tanya - See my post from Tuesday. : )
@btflbaldgrrl I grabbed a copy of the Georgia Straight yesterday, but didn't see the interview with you... is it for next week?
Yoga update. My yin instructor is extremely interested in leading a class for us!! Stay tuned. : )
As this was the inspiration for suggesting a local yoga class and it has now gone live, I thought I would share my friend Robert's website. Too bad we cannot make a roadtrip to the UK. ; )
