Vancouver Alopecia Areata Support Group

Hello Vancouverites! Connecting is one of the best ways to feel happier and become more informed! Come as you are, whether you are shy or outgoing. This is a genuine and fun group where all of us - new to alopecia or experienced, hair-wearer or au natural, seeking treatment or not - all come together and be supportive, informative, and positive for one another. After 4+ years of running this group, I can say for sure that you'll feel better after a meetup! :)

Come to our monthly meetups, or, start by joining this group and be in the loop of upcoming meetups! Sometimes I include alopecia news / remedy / stories too.

If your kid / teen has alopecia, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with other parents! It'll be, I believe, quite awesome for your child :)

18th works for me too.

18th at 2 works for me.

I will prep something on my findings. And I can also bring some info on the Be Bold conference.

: )

I can do the 18th. See you then. JLo - Shall I meet you at your place? I look forward to seeing you all.

Awesome everyone! Sounds like March 18th afternoon works for all. Let's say 2pm to 5pm? Post on the wall to let us know if the time doesn't work for you.

@Dana - great idea! I think @JLo, @Deeann, @Elenore have all been to the NAAF conference and can shed some light. Has anyone else been? Let's all think up some questions to ask :)

@btflbaldgrrl - yes tell us more about your findings and ideas for awareness building at the meetup too!

I should qualify that the evening of the 17th would work for me, and then any time after noon on the 18th. Looking forward to finally being able to attend a gathering!

@JLo - The idea behind the walk is to do what feels right for each one of us. Peer support, not pressure! : )

Hey Cat, I think we should just show up for one of Jennifer Scott's concerts as well, right now her website only shows concerts up the Feb 11th. I'll keep checking.

ps - I love your art!

Hi all, March 18th works for me, I'm going to a concert on the 17th. I'll do a walk or something as well, but not without my hair!! :) Thanks for the heads up about this being a Public Wall Tanya - I'm going to do some deleting!

Love that mix of options Connie! Thanks for offering up your home. Lynn Canyon could be a very restorative space to spend some time as a group. : )

Perhaps at our next meeting, I could "report" on what I have been finding in terms of awareness building activities by more established groups. The Be Bold folks in the UK seem like an incredible group, and they are having their inaugeral conference in October. I am seriously tempted!

Building on a few earlier comments, we could consider combining an outdoor activity on the North Shore with a get together afterwards at our home. I live in Upper Lonsdale, a 5 minute drive from Lynn Canyon or Ambleside Beach. Hey, that means we could do the Grouse Grind in the summer! All kidding aside, I can host on March 17th or 18th, and suggest we defer any awareness building activity for future consideration.

As for me, I always go bald unless it's cold, which is when I reach for my wool hat that looks like a racoon...it's guaranteed to bring out a few smiles :)

Yes, the 17th or 18th works for me. And no I will not be attending the NAAF convention this year.
