Vancouver Alopecia Areata Support Group

Hello Vancouverites! Connecting is one of the best ways to feel happier and become more informed! Come as you are, whether you are shy or outgoing. This is a genuine and fun group where all of us - new to alopecia or experienced, hair-wearer or au natural, seeking treatment or not - all come together and be supportive, informative, and positive for one another. After 4+ years of running this group, I can say for sure that you'll feel better after a meetup! :)

Come to our monthly meetups, or, start by joining this group and be in the loop of upcoming meetups! Sometimes I include alopecia news / remedy / stories too.

If your kid / teen has alopecia, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with other parents! It'll be, I believe, quite awesome for your child :)

Upcoming Meetups

This group gets together monthly at one of the members' homes - a cozy, positive, and fun environment, for those with alopecia. We are here to support one another, and every meetup has been amazingly mood-lifting.

Join us here and we'll send next meeting details to you in a group email!

You can always get a hold of us via AW messaging or at alopecia.vancouver[at]gmail.com

We are affiliated with CANAAF (Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation).

Next meet up: We meet about once a month. Please email Tanya at the emil address above!

There are currently around 50 Vancouverites on AW (Vancouver WA is in the mix, so a bit harder to tell). About half are not active though.

I wish there's a way AW will let new Vancouver members know about us, when they join AW. Though - I just did the search again and noticed that all new members are in this group already :)

Too bad you cannot contact in some collective way, esp. if there are so many more people now.

Yes, you can do an advanced search by location. I did that when I first started this group, and contacted every single Vancouverite. I think many don't check their AW emails anymore though. (Including myself at one point, because AW was sending too many emails back then)

Is there a way to tell how many of them are in the Vancouver area?

Comment by Tanya on February 7, 2012 at 3:00pm

I remember when I first joined AW there were 300 members. I just checked now, and there are now 10,508 members!!!

No she hasn't SilkHead! I hope she will soon. Cool about Eulalia!

Through the discussion boards on AW i've also me Lili Añel (aka Eulalia). Look her up. She is super inspiring from Philidelphia. She has done promotion on TV, through music, and is fairly well known.

Yes, she did, I remember that! Did she ever contact you Tanya?

Omg! Jennifer Scott is on AW and she recently asked about joining our group on the Canadians with Alopecia support group! Read her post:

Thanks for sharing JLo! And lol Deeann, I don't think that would be weird at all :D

I just checked out her site. Very cool. I'm not much into jazz, but can appreciate her talent. Maybe we could go as a group to see her. Would that be weird?
