This is a genuine and fun group where all of us - new to alopecia or experienced, hair-wearer or au natural, seeking treatment or not - all come together and be supportive, informative, and positive for one another. After 4+ years of running this group, I can say for sure that you'll feel better after a meetup! :)
Come to our monthly meetups, or, start by joining this group and be in the loop of upcoming meetups! Sometimes I include alopecia news / remedy / stories too.
If your kid / teen has alopecia, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with other parents! It'll be, I believe, quite awesome for your child :)

Hello,
I was listening to CBC radio (88.1 FM 690 AM) the other day and this singer came on - she's a jazz singer and she mentioned that she had alopecea! Here's the link to her website: http://www.jenniferscott.ca/. I thought she was very cool to be so up front about it all!
Oh get better soon Dana! (Take some garlic! ;))
I didn't get sick so don't worry about me!
@btflbaldgrrl Aah, our meet up was posted on CANAAF homepage! Great!
Oooo! Gotta follow! I am the same name on Twitter. : )
I am going to set up a discussion on here that will allow us to note our areas of interest, in terms of contribution. For example, I am most interested in supporting the development of a teen group, but beyond that, I am kind of a big picture person, and would like to offer that up as we establish ourselves and make links with the local NAAF chapter, CANAAF, etc. I have to wonder if CANAAF is perhaps not keen on a videochat, or doesn't have the time right now . . . Wonder if we could run with the theory that offering an answer alongside a question might make them feel more supported as they grow . . . Will ponder further, and of course share my thoughts. : )
@btflbaldgrrl I don't see the link!
I've contacted CANAAF about a video chat and to discuss CANAAF Vancouver. They say they will get back to us. It's been a week, so I just poked them again ;) I bcc'd you and let them know to expect hearing from you, so feel free to poke them some more to get their attention! haha (please use the email account for the group if you can!)
I've set up an email account for the group (I'll msg you all what it is) and a twitter account at @AAVancouver. @AAVancouver is following all the alopecia-related twitter accounts. We also have a Facebook group which Chris had set up. We'll link the FB and Twitter soon so posting on FB will create a tweet.
If you are using the social media and wouldn't mind joining / following - please do so! The goal for the social media is to have more exposure and reach to whoever seeking support, so it's nice but not a must for existing members to join :) It does help though!
xoxo

Wow Tanya! Just took a look at the CANAAF website again, and I see the "Vancouver Support Group" is listed, right front and centre under Edmonton. That is great? Have you heard anything more from them in terms of their plans to link with other cities outside Toronto? Sandra, what are the thoughts coming out of Calgary? One of the things I wonder about is if it might be important for a group to distinguish between its interest in being a single support group, or branching the way CANAAF (Toronto) has done, in terms of teens, children, etc. It would be really amazing if there was the kind of support base in several municipalities to mirror what CANAAF has done. Happy Monday All.
CANAAF will be setting up a "Products" page on their website this Spring...so Canadians can share local information about good quality products.
Cat - I have found Yanni to be very accommodating in the past(she owns the biz) - I agree with Tanya - say you are in this group and see what she is able to do for you.
Welcome Plumeria!
