Hello everybody, I've read and re-read the posts here, but this my first actual post.
A couple months ago I decided it would be worth it to take the money out of savings and order a Freedom wig. One of the things that finally forced the decision was that my family booked a trip to Disney world and I knew I wouldn't even have fun if I had to spend the whole trip worrying about what I could and couldn't do.
Anyway, about 7 weeks after I placed the order, my consultant told me they don't have my hair available. She said there was no way to know when it would come in and that was the most frustrating thing about Freedom.
That was 2 weeks ago, and I'm still waiting. It sounds like I could be waiting for a really long time if I have to just sit around waiting for someone to grow their hair and decide to donate it. It takes a long time for hair to grow!
I am SO SO very disappointed that I could cry. I was so looking forward to looking like myself and feeling pretty again.
I guess I will probably have to sit out all the fun rides at Disney and won't be able to go swimming there, or anywhere else this summer.
Should I go ahead and invest a few MORE hundred dollars in a regular wig while I wait?? The one I have is pretty old and scraggly. I don't know if it will last for another six months, or year, or however long it will take.
Anyway, mostly I wanted to write about my sadness - but I'm curious how other people have dealt with having to wait indefinitely for their Freedom hair.

Jenny, I had no influence on when you got your hair - as much as I would have like to make a difference when it comes to hair delays...I am sooooo not in control. The truth is those that are waiting on hair go into a waiting list, when the hair arrives in New Zealand they work very hard to make sure that people are looked after as quickly as possible in the order that Freedom received the orders.
With regards to itchiness....be thoughtful on what you are cleaning the inside of your wig with. In some instances people have used products that they are allergic to. Always make sure you wash the inside of your freedom cap everyday (as well as your head).
Your stylist is right with regards to having your Freedom hair on in the correct position. Remember your freedom wig should never feel tight... it should feel secure...those are two very different things. I think it would be very worthwhile to discuss your fit with your Independent Agent before styling just so she can help you make sure that you are putting your freedom hair on correctly. (I think your stylist may be concerned about having your hair to far forward ...which can cause issues with Bangs if you then learn the correct positioning - it could make the bang too short)
With your styling you should at this point have a very good idea in which direction you are going with hairstyles. You would have discussed this with your IA to order your hair. Hopefully you have a picture to take with you when you see your stylist. Just make sure you err on the side of caution for your first cut...you can always cut more later, but sadly once cut you can't add length on.

It looks amazing Jenny! My rep said you keraste (sp?) products...it's expensive around $50. I try to use higher end products. I never blow dry mine, always air dry. I do use a curling iron on it once in a while. Let me know if you hear about any good products.
I wouldn't swim in it, but if you do wash and condition right after and you should be fine

I understand some of the frustration around the length of time it takes to receive one of our hairpieces. It sounds like your fit-cap should be in your hands any time now. Once you have checked the fit to see that it is secure and precise and you approve the hair sample, then Freedom will be able to give you an estimate for the date of completion for your hairpiece.
Do understand that the Freedom Wig is a hand-made piece that takes time all the way from the sizing, to the sorting of hair, to the making of the hairpiece (they are implanting the hairs two at a time to make it look like the hair comes right out of your scalp). Every bit of care is taken in making these hairpieces as it is meant to fit you and only you.
The waiting period is definitely a trial of anxiety, but your agent is happy to keep you posted on the arrival time of your hairpiece and answer any and all questions you have as we agents pride ourselves on customer service.
There won't be any regrets once you get your hairpiece, it is just a very different process than most typical wig stores which tends to get clients nervous about their decision.
You have chosen the best vacuum piece out there, with some of the nicest hair I have come across. It is the waiting that is difficult but so well worth it.
Feel free to get in touch with your IA as they are the best person to know the timeframes of your hairpiece.

Yes, that's how I felt too -- they had thousands of my dollars, and I could be waiting as long as a year to get the product, nobody knows. Whaaa?
I will say that the Freedom People seem to be trying the hardest they can to be accommodating. And given the nature of the product, I don't see any other way around it, short of campaigning to the public how badly people need hair donations.
I did have to change my original hair color in order to get my hair faster. We changed it to something slightly darker and it took almost four and a half months since the day I ordered and put down the deposit. If I had stuck with the original color, I might still be waiting!
FYI, I did buy a cheap "transition wig" from Paula Young for $45. It was fun to have a different look for a couple months, especially when I knew I'd get rid of it soon.
