Alopecia Ontario

Searching for fellow Ontarians with Alopecia. I have been dealing with alopecia for the last 20 years, and I'm finally done dealing with it alone. Is there anyone out there?

He is in the new building next door to the Shoppers drug mart on Lakeshore....What I liked most about him is he listened. He is worth the visit....Good luck!!

I have just completed 4 months of DPCP treatment at Sunnybrook. My plan is to stop. I have AU....I have tried other treatments....cream and shots....nothing has worked. I had some growth at the beginning of treatment...I have been 'flaring' over the last month...I now have no hair. Sunnybrook suggests I continue treatment for 2 more months. My experience is that this disease simply has a mind of its own. I may not have control over this disease but I do have control over my choices. I am done with treatment for now..

In any case...I have a lovely dermatologist in Port Credit (south Mississauga..Dr. Mark Lomaga...He is the 3rd that I have connected with (not including Sunnybrook)....the first in Mississauga refused to see me because my GP is in a different area! The second was an awful experience. The whole clinic very insensitive! I was finally referred to Mark...walking distance from my home!!! He was awesome!

I'm at a point where I don't like this disease but I am living with it!

Thanks Wise 1...I like you gave up on seeking treatment..but somehow I have hit a low point. Yes Sunnybrook still has a clinic..but I think they mostly do DCPC. I'm too far gone for steroid shots (i.e. almost every hair is gone)..I'm not sure. Nice to meet you and I guess we don't live too far away from each other.

Any recommendations for a dermatologist in the Toronto area. I tried the DCPC at Sunnybrook years ago and it did not work for me. I have been told my AA is not linked to any illness just autoimmune. Five years my hair has been falling out and regrowing. I have not sought another consult in over five years - just lived with it. Now it has all fallen out completely (on my head). I'm thinking its time to have my family doc refer me somewhere again. Anyone check out their condition with an endochronologist? Just curious. BTW I'm new to this site looking to connect with folks in Toronto.
