I am 47, married to a wonderful man named Brett, 2 daughters, Kimi - 29, Kristin - 24, a stepson Zach - 16, a nephew, DJ-7, lives with me. My favorite pastime is chatting with my Alopecian friends online, and spreading Alopecia Awareness every chance I get!!!
LOL When I said that about being the oldest there were only a few people that all looked a lot younger than me. LOL I am the gray picture that looks like a man. LOL I don't have a scanner and can't put one up. The wig is going great...thank you so much....Hope you and the kids are all doing great. I am going tomorrow to apply for a CNA job...hope I get it but a little worried about someone pulling my wig off. LOL Welp...hope to hear from you soon. My computer is slow and acts like it is going out so it takes a long time to get this stuff to open up. LOL Just wanted to let ya know I wasn't avoiding you. LOL Bye for now.
Woman you are brave & brilliant! I have had many friends tell me to tattoo my head and move on and I have actually thought alot about it! I was so happy when I seen your picture.......You look stunning, beautiful!
i ABSOLUTELY love your picture. it is such a cool idea to tattoo your head, and i love that you have yours done, that is SOO cool. I considered getting that done, but right now i have some hair growing back in. i'll tell ya what though, if it all falls out and doesn't come back, im getting it tatooed! my eyebrows are tattooed on.
Hiys how have you been. I miss eveyone too. I have a couple new friends that might be coming to the conference withme this year. I hope you can come. You would be missed if you dont go.
Dotty, I saw in someones comments that you may not make it to the coference...I will put together a "Dotty Fund" lol...This will be my 1st coference and I have to meet you. I'm sure I eventually will though...
Thanks! I love havin a mohawk, i feel like a bad ass. hahaha. I can see how the tattoos are a good way to open up conversations about alopecia. Very cool. I love it. Are you going to conference this year?
I think that you wishing that you could snap your fingers to make alopecia understood by eeveryone, instead of snapping to make your alopecia disappear shows me that it is possible that Della and I can one day accept it. I personnaly think she may accept it a little more than I do. She thinks your head is beautiful, by the way. But I don't condone that yet, she's only going to be 5!
Hi Dotty,
I think I have seen you on the MSN site many times. I check in on the message boards quite frequently. I have had alopecia areata for the past 6 years. It is comforting to come to these sites and meet so many people that have alopecia. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one! You are an inspiration.
Hey girl.. loved to see that you were on here too.. I can not for the life of me get back onto MSN.. its very frustrating.. can you send me an invite for that site by chance? I miss everyone... PLUS oh yes.. my yahoo is gone. I do not know my password so please send me an email so I can get in touch.. please let everyone on MSN I say Hello my alopecian friends and especially Joanne...Hugs to you from the UP :-)
I was actually thinking about getting one tattoo on my head/scalp area. I was wondering how painful it was getting yours, if you don't mind sharing it with me?
I love your story. My mother use to tell me that she had eyes in the back of her head too. lol! I haven't got my tattoo or tattoos yet, but I am sure the pain would not hurt as much as watching my hair fall out too. Thank you for helping me look at getting a scalp/head tattoo from a different perspective. I always thought about getting it, but I actually never seen anyone with one. It is good to know that someone else has one, especially a fellow Alopecian. Thank you for sharing your story with me and when I do get my tattoo, I will think of you and your story. Thanks again :)
That was a beautiful poem you wrote!!! Absolutley beautiful!!!!
I don't know if you remember me, but we had met on another Alopecia support group.....I've lost the link, because I got a new computer after mine crashed & I lost everything!!! But it's the one that maude had......
Nice to see you are doing well!!
Wow- you really spelled it out in words! Your poem should be distributed to all doctors, your feelings was mine 4years ago.
And a fantastic tatoo, if its yours :)
Thanks for leaving a message Dotty...hehe. If you put ''Dotty" on the "search member" box...both of our profiles will appear...I just find that out..isnt that cool...hehe...
so you gettin tattooed on your head has kind of inspired me to do the same. Not exactly the same, in fact I think i'd at least just start with something simple. but i just thought it was a wonderful idea, and i guess i was wondering about it....if you don't mind giving advice. =)
Thanks so much! I'm just in a quandry as to what I will get done on my head...but I'll figure it out somehow. I've got friends thinking for me. i think it would be cool if i could figure out something to put on there that would represent alopecia & how far I've come in some way...Who knows what I'll end up with. But I'm pretty sure I'll eventually get something. =) You're awesome.
I'm sure it will hurt. I know it'll hurt more than my eyebrow tattoos....they weren't as deep as regular tattoos, & the lady used a topical cream that worked as a numbing agent. but like you said, I'll prolly be all pumped up & not feel it. I wish you could come with me, that'd be so cool! But I've got a couple friends who i know would go with me. =)
Hi Dotty. I feel like I know you already. I have read many of your inspirationals already on the MSN site. FLgirl introduced me to the site. If you have contact with her, tell her the Alabama girl is on this site and thanks her for listening! This is the first time I've posted on any site, but I read the MSN site a lot through the summer. Thanks for your inspiration. BY THE WAY, if you are not the same Dotty, sorry for the mix-up. --Denise of Alabama
Hi! This grounded thing stinks for all of us - not sure about Kentucky, we had told Amy that we weren't going due to her lovely behavior issues, hoping that would motivate her to change a little, but we've continued to have some issues, so...not sure. Don't know who we'd be punishing - us or her?
So I hit enter without meaning too..... Anyway, wanted to drop you a line and thank you for always being there. Unlike you, I come and go it seems. We aren't making it to Kentucky this year as we're going to Greece. Long story but my mom needs us more and thankfully Peaches is looking forward to it as much as she was to Kentucky. If it wasn't for CAP, I may not have done things this way but l've been blessed with all these forums! Anyway, take good care my friend! Love, Siph
Hello Hottie Dotty, it's Mr Josua your friend from Daily Strength. I like the page. I hope all is well with you. I shall speak with you at a latter time.
Hi Dotty! Yes, I remember seeing your picture on Heralopecia. I thought, wow! What a way to dress a bald head! I've never seen that on a woman before. I showed my sister your page, and she was blown away. She thought you were so awesome, me too! She's into tattoos. So how long ago did you lose your hair?(Like you needed it! lol) I was five. You have a really big family! How do you do it? I stay home w/ mine and still can't get everything done. You must do dishes at least five times a day! I have four kids, and a husband who is allergic to housework! I have a Zach too. He's my three year old. We call him Zach Attack. If you knew him, you would know why. lol! I am looking forward to getting to know you better. I hope you get everything straightened out w/ Heralopecia. I would love to chat there w/ you also. Well, when you have time. Take care! Sarah
I love your tattoo. My son, Vince, had his tattoo on the side of his body done in stages too. Vince has his eyebrows tattooed too. If you look at my pix on my page you can see them. The one is of he & I , & the other is of Vince & my Hubby.
The names on his body are people that he loved & passed on. Recently, his best friend died and he went back & had his name added on the very top. I know this is bazzar, but I did ask him where my name will be?! He didn't tell me, but said he had a very special tattoo & place for me.
Hey girl! I just wantedd to let you know that I posted some new baldy pics on my page. You inspired me!The only tattooes I have are of my eyebrowes. OWCH! It hurt a lot. How can you tolerate the pain? Man, you're tough. Hope all is well. Sarah
Hi Dotty, you look Happy too. Your scalp tattoo is beautiful. Who needs hair...i am thinking of putting a tattoo somewhere too. I have alot that's good in my life, and so I am happy...but I have made a decision that losing my hair is not going to get in my way....my son too. Hope to talk to you more in a chat once I figure out how to go about it on the site. J
Hi Honey! Sorry it took me so long to get to ya. I love your poem. WOW.....you really are a very busy gal.
Right now, I'm on a serious job hunt. I got laid off from a job I had for 8 yrs......& no promise to return. Man, it's tough out there, let me tell ya. I've been on a few interviews, with no luck yet. Oh well, I'm sure the good Lord has a plan for me, so I leave it up to him.
Hey now you take care Gf & will chat with ya soon xoxoxox
Thankyou! I will def add you on there. I wish I knew how to change the settings so you didnt need my email to add me but I dont know how, lol. I love the tats on your head, I think thats awesome. I've always been into tattoos and piercings but ofcourse I have to wait to get any myself, lol.
Hi Dotty. A close family member was just diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Of course, I started researching it on the web. One of the sites, familydoctor.org, states that Celiac Disease might cause some hair loss (a condition called alopecia areata). I was wondering if you have heard of such a connection. By the way, I love your tattooed head, but would never have the courage to actually get a tattoo. LOL--Denise
Heeeeeey Dotty DollFace! My song for today is . . . "Rain-Rain-go-away . . .come-again-another-day!" My sweet 12 yr. old G-daughter was over this past weekend & helped de-weed my garden. I can't wait to get started. She & I planted some flower seeds a while back & this will be the first year we will attempt to grow pumpkins!!!! The little seeds have popped up & are lookin very healthy. I'm such an earth goddess......guess it's cuz I'm a Capricorn. Light & luv to you sweet Sista! xoxox
