    Hello and welcome, Lynn,
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. Let me know if you need help or support. One thing that you might be interested in is my book, written for women, called "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!" (It just won two national awards!) It has a lot of good info in it, it can answer many questions, and it's a fun read, too. You can find out more on my page. It's available on Amazon.com, and on this site under "Bookshelf."
Let me know if there's anything else I can do! I am here to help.

Hey Lynn, So sorry to be slow on the reply! I'll think alittle about the phone, and I'll email you at the address you sent to me. I hope today you can find something that keeps the " hair issue "at bay for a bit!

    Hey Lynn,
I too am super active. Just finished doing a bunch of camping, swimming, waterskiing etc. Here's how it went....great. Just wore the wig and off I went. For active days, a buff works great. Ran a 1/2 marathon with one on...who cares...everyone looks like crap anyways when they run and it looks kind of cute in the end. I do the same for water sports as well. You can in some instances get your wig wet. The campfire was a wig or the buff and a cute hat...all was well. May I ask what scarring alopecia? Everything will be okay...it will. All the best and feel free to vent

Hi Lynn, I have the Jessica Simpson's extensions in the store but that is for coverage for the sides and back, not for the top. You are welcome to come in and try it :) I also carry many different 'toppers,' which is coverage for the top/crown area. See you soon :))

Lynn, thank you so much for your comment! I am so glad you loved the book. And thank you for telling me about your experience in spinning class with the song, "Devil with the Blue Dress!" I am saving your message in my special file. Please let me know if there's any more ways I can support you!

    Hi Lynn,

I see that you are from the Tri-state area. I'm from New york, Long Island to be exact. Have you gone to any support group meetings?
  • M. Luk

Thanks for the compliment Lynn, I really appreciate it :) I feel that whatever happens with having the condition of Alopecia we just need to tackle the problem by finding a solution (ie: loss of eyelash then buy false ones) and move on. There is no point in sulking around and with 2 kids, I have no time for over thinking my condition. I'm just glad that there are products out there that can help enhance our beauty. Aside from not having bad hair days, my false lashes are much longer and more beautiful then my original ones. As the old saying goes: "When life hands you lemons, you make lemonade" .... so true, so true.

I have to say, my husband has been my rock and my children my inspiration.

    Hi,

I actually just joined this group and started looking around to see what support groups were out there. Have you been to a meeting yet? I'd like to get involved w/kids since I grew up with Alopecia and I have a job that may be of interest to a lot of kids.....

Hi Lynn! How are you? I hope we can chat soon!

    Hi Lynn,
I am very new to this great website. That is the most fabulous hair you have! It must be your real hair....? Please tell me how to get that look! And you are also a natural beauty and don't need makeup to be attractive.
I don't have aa or au but I have telopecia(sp?). So for the last 4-5 yrs. I've been really losing the hair (and my mind! lol). But I should stop grieving over my loss as I'm reading others who have had it worse since they were so young. They are truly inspiring.
I appreciate any encouraging words and insight you can give. And please tell me where to get your hair!

    Thanks!
    Christine R.

Hi Lynn, Im very sorry to hear you are having a bad day. Don't worry I have those all the time lately. This past Tuesday I drove to NYC to get a new wig at Joseph Paris. It was a very emotional time for me before and after. Trying to find the right hair system is very frustrating and expensive. I feel so helpless sometimes when I have no idea what I am looking for and need, I guess all this knowledge and comfort comes with time. I drove home thinking why me? why now? I cant help but feel sorry for myself constantly. I am 24 and have to probably live the rest of my life with this handicap. I found myself walking down the street looking at each person thinking to myself why dont they have it? and trying to maybe possibly spot just one other person that I could relate to.. It is so rare. I would

reccommend for you to look into some places in Nyc such as Joseph Paris' salon. They are expensive but do help very much, and you have shorter hair so your hair system should be alot less money. I have not heard of a place in Cheshire? Have you gone there? I hope one day you will find comfort with yourself, I am still searching and hoping my day will come soon. If you ever need someone to talk to I am here and glad I found someone in my same situation so close! Feel better and know it will get easier with time, you are beautiful!

Hi Lynn!! How are you doing today? I went on two walks with different friends as the day was so glorious. Talked about my AA just a tiny bit with one of them but for the most part it is no longer something I think much about. It's nice to be in this place.
I didn't look much into your page so I don't know "where you are" with your alopecia. Would be happy to talk any time. :) Stephanie

Hi Lynn, thanks for adding me as your friend and thanks for your compliments on my wigs :) How are you doing?
