About Me:
Hi!! My name is Amie, and I'm 35 years old. I was diagnosed with AA around the age of 10. I tried all types of treatments, yet the only one that seemed to have any results was the steroid injections. After about 10 years of those, I was no longer having results. Luckily for me I was very supported in my decision to shave most of my hair off. I had a ponytail for awhile, but since then have gone to a Mohawk and shaving the rest with razors. My Mohawk has luckily lasted about 8 years now without falling out in large amounts. However, over the last couple years, even the Mohawk has been falling out. I keep it dyed blonde, and just let be what will be. I've always been very adamant about not using wigs or scarves, and had the "take me as I am or not at all" attitude. That mentality has costs me several jobs, however, I still stand by that choice at this time. Just remember, have confidence in yourself!! Anyone who has a problem with you, really only has a problem with themselves. Be the best you, that you can be!!!
**UPDATE I'm now 37 years old and married to an amazing man. I have now lost 95% of my scalp hair, as well as arm and leg hair. My eyebrows come and go. Luckily, I pretty much really love being bald!! Definitely makes getting ready much quicker and easier!! Hope everyone is doing well!

well i went for the haircut before the cruise. it's mostly shaven, with a high ponytail. at least that's the way i wear it. i will put up some pics of it down, which i did wear it like that on the cruise. i just think it looks a little to thin to wear down, and i was really suprised at how well it turned out. i'm happy to say i actually am really liking the haircut. i'm just really hoping that no more hair falls out, so i can at least keep the ponytail and bangs. i've gotten a little attached… Continue

hello all

I'm new to this site, but have had AA for almost 18 years now. i have always treated my AA with the steroid injections, due to the face that is the only thing that ever worked for me. untill now, i've always been able to cover my spots with my own hair by simply changing hairstyles. now however, i have some really large spots that can no longer be covered aside from with a baseball hat. my problem occured due to the fact i'm leaving for a cruise in a couple of days, and i… Continue
