I am a mom of a 5 yr old with alopecia, it has been a@ 10 mos since she lost everything and I still am going through "greiving " process. Although I don't let my dtr see it, and I believe we are doing a good job with her and building/keeping her self esteem up, I as a mom am having my own issues about it. Alopecians in Michigan will celebrate International Alopecia Day (August 6th, 2011) with a late lunch at T.G.I Fridays in Livonia. We will be meeting at 3 PM.

I saw you were invited to the Lansing support group this Sat. I am a mom to a 6 yr old boy who has had au. For about 3 years. Are you going to the support group? I am not sure if we will go, it just depends if there are any other kids going. I would love to meet you. There is Children's Alopecia Project (CAP). Meeting on Sunday Feb 6 at Castaway Cafe in Howell (about 45 mins from Lansing) from 3 to 5, my family will definitely be there.
