If your derm is knowlegeable about alopecia, I would follow his/her advice. Sounds like her hair is growing back with the shots. I hope it continues!

Steroid shots have been used safely on children for many years. If she is okay with receiving them (they can be painful), and it's helping, then I would go ahead.

I haven't tried Biotene or rosemary. I am sure it won't hurt.  Biotin will  help existing hair become fuller and thicker, but to actually regrow lost hair -- that's another story. But it feels good to be doing something. I understand completely!

I hope it will resolve on it's own, too! Please let me know! And also let me know how you like the book. It has helped a lot of people, including moms with kids...

Blessings back, and big hugs!

Don't worry about asking questions!

As I wrote in my book, Sadbe can be very uncomfortable, producing itching,  hives, blistering and loss of pigmentataion,  and hair growing results are mixed.  New growth will be evident after six months and treatment has to continue to keep it growing in. It can help some people, so you may want to try it, but your little one may not like the experience.

Regarding dairly and gluten free, I am doubtful this would do much (I have been gluten free for six years and still have no hair), but of course you can try it. Also, be aware that alopecia may resolve on its own. All her hair may grow back without any treatment at all and never return! It's unpredictable.

I understand your frustration. You want to fix things for her but you can't do anything. However, there is a lot of research going on right now and a genetic link has been found. I predict that within 5-10 years there will be a viable treatment for this disorder! Something to look forward to.
