About Me:: Hi, my name is Jeanne (most people call me Bird, u gotta luv childhood nicknames that stick w/ ya 4 life). I'm a 32 year old wife and mother. I have the most spontaneous, loving, motivated, supportive not to mention super hot husband (my hott-boy). My son is just as spontaneous, loving and adorable as his daddy. My family is a true blessing they have been very supportive of me in so many ways. I love art it is my true passion but, I also love writing and philosophy. I could honestly spend hours and hours in my studio at home painting on canvas and reading or writing. Being creative has really been an outlet for me in dealing with my hairloss. I have had alopecia areata since I was 7 years old and for the most part was always able to hide my bald spots. When I turned 30 I started losing my hair at a rapid rate and within 3 weeks lost it all. So at this point I now have alopecia universalis. I have had a very hard time adjusting. I constantly remind myself that I'm healthy, it could be worse or its only hair....but sometimes its still hard to cope. I don't know anyone else that has alopecia so when I found Alopecia World it really gave me hope. I'm looking forward to making lots of new friends :-)

Think Positive

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she only had three hairs on her head. "Well", she said " I think I'll braid my hair today". So she did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and saw she only two hairs on her head. "Hmmm" she said " I think I'll part my hair down the middle today" So she did and she had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror, and noticed she only had one hair on her head. "Well", she said" Today I'm going to wear my hair in a ponytail" So she did, and she had a fun, fun day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed that there wasn't a single hair on her head " YAAAY"!!!! she exclaimed. " I don't have to fix my hair today"!!!!

At 10:14pm on June 12, 2009, JenNy said…: thanks for the comment jeanne.. i'm recieving injections once a month as well but more is coming out the filling in and i have 3 spots on my head.. the first seen late last year has hairgrowth on it's own.. but the other two are still shedding and even with the shots.. it feels like the hair loss is coming from all over not just the active spots.. i'm still learning to accept is why i love reading the stories of others.. which i wish acceptance would come faster for me.. it's def having an affect on myself and my family.. how has it been for you to go from AA to AU so quickly... i need words from the wise.. :)

It has stuck and at 52, most of Harrisburg knows me as Bird. We are namesakes, lol!
