About Me:
I was just diagnosed with AA in April....on my mother's birthday actually. I have good and bad days...

If my alopecia is stress related the only thing I can think of that could have caused all this was my dog passing away last year. I can't believe that going through that could be causing me to lose my hair. I had never even heard of alopecia until the day I discovered I had a bald spot. I had no idea what was happening and still struggle with understanding and acceptance. I hope that somehow meeting people will here will help me down the road.

Kara, Hello...nice to meet u...is that a wig in the pic w/the baseball cap?? I just can't seem to find a wig that allows me to wear a baseball cap...maybe I just need for them to be thinned out...or something ???It is sunny in FL and need a hat to shield the rays from my face!!! Well, the hubby shaved my head once...that's it. Nothing has grown back. I still have stubble in some areas but for the most part, I think I'm still losing the rest. C'est la vie!! I know some people shave their head clean but I don't mind the stubble, It hasn't affected how the hairpiece feels. In fact, my wigs are wearing much better since I did shave the rest off. All the best.

Hello and welcome, Kara!
That reminds me of how hard it was when my precious soul-mate cat died 8 years ago. I lost 20 lbs (and wasn't overweight in the first place). Anyway,
I know how hard alopecia can be; I have had it for about 30 years. After I became the spokesperson for the National Alopecia Areata Foundation, a lot of women were needing my help and support, so I wrote a book called, "If Your Hair Falls Out, Keep Dancing!"
