I am a parent of a child with AU, it started out with AA, but over the years has just made its way to AU. My son started out with AA around the second grade, we have been to so many specialist. We seem to have done just about every treatment. Now as a teenager he seems to be ok with it for the most part. He really has a great group of friends, and they are not bothered at all by it. My problem is with the teachers, they don't ask anything, they just assume "Cancer". My husband and I are going to see if we can bring some light into the school this coming up year. There is just so many people out there that have never even heard about this. I just want to be a great support to him and everyone out there who has alopecia.
Are you age 18 or older?

Hi Ms. Kristin!
Um, I was kind of wondering if you could give me your email or email me at hiphopbuttercup@aim.com
I just recently got involved in The American Cancer Society Relay For Life and I'm trying to get everyone's emails so I can email them and ask for donations!
I already left a comment for Matthew, asking him for his email, but I thought I'd leave a comment for you too- just to be sure you got it!
Thanks!

Dear Kristin: I'm sorry to learn that your son has gone through so much, and that your other child has AA too. My daughter is 11 and my son is 10, and both have small spots of patchy AA that we don't have to conceal, so far. Both kids are getting the cortosteriod (spelling) shots and I apply Roggaine twice a day. So far, we are seeing regrowth in a few of the spots of my daugther - none of the kids' spots are larger than a dime ~ so far. I do "head checks" every Saturday, looking for new spots for the dermatologist to treat (my daughter currently has three & my son three ~ that I know of). What kind of treatment are you trying for your son & other child? I've heard of parents having success with the regular application of Roggaine to eyebrows, and carefully to eyelashes. It just takes months to get that darned hair to grow back! Take care & I'll look forward to your response.
