The immune system is a very remarkable part of our bodies. It somehow knows of a problem and rushes antibodies to the site of attack and fixes the problem - automatically. I don't know how. I don't believe science knows how either, but they may come closer than my ruminations. If you have alopecia, you have an immune dysfunction. It thinks hair is the enemy and attacks. What comes after hair? It got all my hair, what's next? It attacked my fingernails. I experienced an indentation across the…See More
"Yes, I have the nail issues as well. Such a frustrating condition! The worse thing about the finger nail issues is that the small pits and ridge occur UNDER the nail as well, so it is hard to keep my nails clean. Again, another…"
"Hi Tawni - thanks for your tears and runny nose - I feel less alone. Any other side effects, other than the hair loss that binds us here? I had fingernail issues. Indentations formed across the middle of my nail."
"I'm not concerned about my appearance as I have been comfortable with myself since forever. A compromised immune system that no one knows anything about is more in line with my thinking. What has anyone done about cause/cure? What happens next?…"
I must be one of the good guys because my hair loss is just a convenience - no more shaving or combing - but with my wife's cancer, her hair loss was worse than the chemo - I don't believe it, but she said it.
My concern is…"
"Kathy - Thank You. I was lucky to have her - she spoke 7 languages and we traveled extensively in spike of the cancer and its various side effects. I would love to share a before picture when I had a full beard and long hair, until about three years…"
"Absolutely, tearing eyes and runny nose. It is then that you realize hair is NOT cosmetic. Our society has made it cosmetic. Hair is functional; it is a protectorate. Nose/ear hairs act as a filter to keep out germs,…"
"I agree that women are more concerned with hair loss, and just hair in general. My late wife had cancer for twelve years, outliving her chances of survival four-fold, but that also meant more rounds of chemotherapy than most, and the resulting hair…"
"I am not supportive of bullying. Not familiar with Cindy Lauper, actually not a big fan of Hollywood, or the Academy as they seem to be a lot of rich "Hey Look at Me" types. I have developed Alopecia Universalis relatively late in life…"
"Free speech is free speech - it is a constitutional right. Period. Full stop. If it is hurtful or tasteless, or insulting, that does not give one the go-ahead for physical violence. Certainly, it does not give one the right to assault, which is what…"
Yes, I have the nail issues as well. Such a frustrating condition! The worse thing about the finger nail issues is that the small pits and ridge occur UNDER the nail as well, so it is hard to keep my nails clean. Again, another carrier of dirt and germs!
Absolutely, tearing eyes and runny nose. It is then that you realize hair is NOT cosmetic. Our society has made it cosmetic. Hair is functional; it is a protectorate. Nose/ear hairs act as a filter to keep out germs, bacteria, etc. Brows and lashes serve as protection for the eyes against the elements, debris, etc. But insurance companies don't want to hear that. If they admit that, then they would have to retract their "not medically necessary" mantra. You say you actually live in Maryland, but have a PO in Delaware. Not surprising, as Delaware is such a small state that all you have to do is blink, and you're out of it in another state (LOL!)
How is everything with you, my name is Adudé Fafa Akue, I picked interest on you after going through your short profile and deemed it necessary to write you immediately. I have something very vital to disclose to you, but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on:(email@example.com) for the full details.
