My head has been itchy, basically since all this this began a few weeks ago. Oh man, has it been itchy!! But a few days ago, my head started to feel achy. Its only on the right side of my head. I am missing a big patch on the right side. I was just wondering if this is normal, or if it is something I should go back to the doctor early? I have an appointment on the 16th, to talk about the topical temovate treatment (which is NOT working). Am I okay to wait to go back to see him, or should I go sooner? Thanks!!

I sometimes have some soreness / tenderness...but it's nothing severe...more of a discomfort than a pain. I would say if it's actual pain that doesn't seem right then check with the doctor.

I get the itchies too. The itching gets really bad when I wear something to cover my head like a bandana on a sunny day. There is also some tenderness now and again which varies from annoying to slightly painful. I'm finding that I have to be more aware of my environment, especially at work (i.e. HVAC vents), as my lack of hair makes my head sensitive to cold drafts. My scalp sometimes hurts if I stay in the draft too long. Like Mandy said, give the doc a call if you are concerned.

You should always check with your doctor anyways however I don't think it's anything you need to worry about too much. Itching can come from many things such as regrowth and loss, heat rash, sensitivity to chemicals/surfaces, etc. As far as the aching is concerned though, that could be something more so check it out soon. Let us know what happens! :)

I always had tingling - which I guess could feel like itching, but I also had (HAD, trade one autoimmune for another) psoriasis, so I attributed it to that. Now that I'm completely hairless, I don't have psoriasis. ;-)

When my alopecia got very bad it would tingle and feel sore, even now my my hair starts to come in I just take it as a sign that the hair is not string and is to weak to support itself in the folicle, I don't think it is anything to worry about and it never hurts to talk to your doctor about it.
