But we know, of course, that lookism and other forms of appearance-based discrimination is no joke. Therefore, how do you think you can take a stand against the scourge?
Wow...
I guess I have not perceived being bald in a negative light as far as employment is concerned, but I can see how management in private industry could discriminate against those of us who are bald. In the federal government, where I'm employed, there are strict guidelines against discrimination of any kind, although it does happen from time to time. There are resources in place to fight for ones' civil rights. In regards to your question, I think the best way to take a stand is to be heard. If you think you are being discriminated against because of your baldness, then let the world know through the media, internet, word of mouth and any other avenue you can find. File a grievance with your state's Labor and Industry Department and never give up!

The only reason I broke down and bought a wig was because I know I'll be interviewing for a new job this fall. (Long story...) - I figured a prospective employer would assume Cancer...and since legally, they can't ask and I don't necessarily want to share - that they would be unwilling to hire "damaged goods" - it's the perception of Cancer, etc.
