I haven't so many beautiful bald people like this ever!!!! This is a big deal to me because people, especially in my own family would have me believe that I should be ashamed of what has happened to me, or my appearance for that matter. I would never forget when a relative said to me, "how can you be bald and be a stylist? I wouldn't let you touch my head!". but I didn't let that jerk the benefit of beliving anything he had to say and I'm glad I wasn't wrong! Just seeing you all makes me feel good inside, I'm not ashamed or embarassed and I'm not alone!

Porcia,

I remember attending my first National Alopecia Areata Foundation conference and having the same feelings. The feeling that, this is going to be ok. I looked around me and saw people that were still getting degrees, getting married, having children, working, modeling, participating in sports, singing or dancing professionally... and it was such a relief to see others living full lives. Which is exactly what I need to see at that time. This is exactly what this site is all about! I am so glad that you are here!

Porcia, don't listen to my fiance Cheryl Carvery. She's bald! Oh, that's right, I am too! LOL For real though, you've certainly come to the right place for a sense of belonging and for empowerment. Keep looking around. You'll be amazed not only at the wonderful things that are said, but also by the amazing people you're going to meet, with plenty more to come as we continue to promote this beloved community. Keep doin' you, Porcia. I see you name in lights! :-)

Good For you! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do anything. There are many people who are stylists who don't have hair. Shux, if a woman can let a straight man touch her hair, why not a woman who just happened to be bald just like the straight man! I don't get it. Family can sometimes be your worst critics. Tell her to kick rocks!!! Thats my new phrase, I just love it!

You're damn right! That's the best attitude to have! Some day people will wake up & realize looks aren't everything! Our society places too much emphasis on looks, and that needs to change! I think all of us are working on changing that everyday. You're beautiful without hair, so don't listen to those mean people who are jealous. =)

This site surely shows us that we are not alone, but you know I've shared this site with EVERYONE so they can log on and see just how common this is...

I hope this site gets around to ALL

Welcome!

I think we're on to something! Pretty soon people are going to start seeing the advantages we have...the convenient ones like no hair cuts or time saved styling. Or the deeper ones...like the opportunity to let our beauty shine from within! Sorry...if this catches on you might have to look for a new job ;-)
Keep Shining!

Hey well you are an inspiration.. I went to and did graduate from Hair school.. I just have not done anything with it yet.. I get a lot of the same reactions.. and I do find it more challenging not being able to style my own hair...
