Hello friends,
I am writing to ask that you all take a miinute to send up a quick prayer for my daughter Kristin. Yesterday at 3:15 p.m. she was in a severe car accident. Her car went off the road, over an embankment, went airborne and hit 2 trees before it came to rest in a pile of trees. She was ejected from the car at some point and landed 20+/- feet from the point of impact. She has many injuries including 2 collapsed lungs, 6 broken ribs, a broken collar bone, bruised kidney, and a cracked vertebrae in her lower back. Thank God that none of these are life threatening and it's a miracle that she doesn't have a head injury. They removed her spleen because it was bleeding, but she can live without a spleen. She is on a ventilator to breathe and they don't expect to be able to wake her up for another 24 hours. She needs to be heavily sedated to keep her still in order for her to start breathing on her own and to let her lungs have a chance to inflate. I appreciate any and all prayers and healing vibes sent her way. The power of prayer is extremely powerful so I know that they will be heard. She is a very, very strong young woman, and though it will be a long healing process, she will be fine.

Thank you,
Love and Hugs,
Dotty

Hello my friends,
First I would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I so agree with Tamgirl about the power of prayer and positive thinking. Our family has so many wonderful friends and family members by our side and long distance that we can't help feeling the power. Kristin has come a long way since Tuesday. She was on a ventilator until Friday around noon, and every minute since then she's getting stronger. She should be getting the chest tubes out at some point today and she just now got the stiff neck collar on (that will be a big help as she refers to it as the "stupid" neck collar. Her voice is almost back to normal from the ventilator and she is able to talk now (watch out world!!! LOL). She is still in ICU but she is taking baby steps toward recovery. Again, thank you all for your well wishes. I am truly blessed!!!
Love and Hugs,
Dotty and family

Kristin is HOME!!!!! She was discharged yesterday morning and last night was the first night I was actually able to sleep soundly in 10 days!! I would like to thank everyone again for their well wishes, positive thoughts, and prayers. It's amazing how much progress can be made in 10 days. It will still be a long road, but, she is walking around the house on her own and able to do most everything one-handed. :) She has 50+ stitches in her stomach which are still pretty sore and she can't move her left arm or shoulder very well, but, all in all, she looks awesome!! Continued prayers and positive vibes for healing would be appreciated.
Love and Hugs,
Dotty

I have just found this site and am glad to be here. While on someone's page, found you and came to your page (like the tats is what brought me here). I saw the blog about your daughter and (being a RN) thought I'd check it out. Glad to hear she is home and doing soooooo much better. I wanted to send her my positive thoughts and prayers for continued recovery. I know that now you will be able to rest much better (until she gets in a car by her self again). Continued healing to both of you, Marie

Dotty I'm sorry about your daughter! She must have been very scared when the accident took place and also about her recovery. I hope she gets better soon or at least in the time the doctors have predicted. It can be physically and mentally exhausting to see your loved ones hurt and recovering so I hope you will remember to take care of yourself too.
