I work with elementary students several times a week. Today, with the sweetest sincerity, a child told me that her grandmother has several wigs I can borrow. I told her that I preferred to not wear wigs. She asked why and I said they're itchy. She laughed and her loving smile was priceless.

Some days I do wonder why I don't wear wigs. I have no regrets for deciding not to cover the hair loss. It's just a continual process of embracing who I am. Today, I deeply value the sweetness of a child's thoughts.

Kids are priceless, they can cheer u up in a minute. I haven't had hair for about 1year and 3 months, and I haven't bought a wig, I hear they are hot, itchy, and they look so phony. Usually when I go out I wear a hat or bandana, but lately I have been a little braver to go out without nothing, I am not ashamed of how I look, but I have to admit I wish I had hair sometimes, mostly it doesnt bother me at all. I have too children, they are 19 and 18 and when I first started to lose my hair I thought it would bother them the most and they would be embarrassed, but they were the best, and have always told me, mom you look great with or without hair.

I love children, I have 5...all grown up, but I have three of the "bestest" grand daughters ever! They love "Nana" BALD as a bean!

Isn't it amazing how accepting children are? How selfless. I wonder why people lose that when they "grow up". Thanks Jill for sharing :o)

It comforts me to hear from the other women on AW who can't stand/don't wear wigs. For a long while, I thought I was weird or crazy to prefer going bald in public (or wearing a scarf when I'm chilly). Reading everyone's comments and seeing photos has helped me a lot!

I recently considered wearing one of my wigs to an event. I haven't worn one in - gee, I don't know, maybe 3 months. I put it on, looked in the mirror, and took it off. It just isn't ME. And, since all my friends know me bald now, I'd feel pretty silly in the wig. You said it, Jen!

And that's why I just love kids :)
