I worked in my local school district for seven years. A 5th grade Teacher having read this book for many years along with her students, discovered I had Alopecia. She asked me if I would be interested in having a discussion with her class, and without hesitation I blurted out , "Yes, sure I will." This was my prior to Alopecia outgoing personality coming out. Later, I thought I can't even come to terms with having Alopecia myself, lil alone discussing my medical condition with twenty-five 10 year olds. The book is titled "Because of Anya" I highly recommend this book, actually for any age, read into your small child need be. Anyhow, I participated in the discussion, ( nervously my voice crackled while doing so) and I tried to throw a few funnies in there at times. Two days after the discussion I recieved a large size envelope, there was a homemade card from each child thanking me for my time, and sharing my stories with them regarding Alopecia. I was so touched and saved each and every card.
