I did it... I posted a status on my Facebook telling every one of my friends on there that I have Alopecia. It said:

"In support of Alopecia Awareness Month, I am coming forward to say that I have a form of Alopecia. I want to spread awareness about this as much as I can. maybe one day when another young girl gets diagnosed, she will know she isn't alone. I'd like to say thank you to the people close to me who have given me support over the years! Thank you to the women that have Alopecia who give me inspiration".

I have NO idea if I get any reponses what they will be like. I just wanted to post that so I can maybe spread more awareness one step at a time. I want to feel like I've done my part. I wanted to write more but that was the maximum number of words available. I might get some ignorant responses... oh well! I want to try to do what I can to raise awareness. I'm glad I posted it and maybe I will again next year! :) Happy Alopecia Awareness Month!!

Awesome!

I keep planning on doing this, but I haven't yet. Maybe this will help motivate me. Actually, I've been thinking about posting a note on Facebook, since that gives me more space to write about it.

I did the same thing. The responses were all positive. I've also decided to post one fact about Alopecia in my status each day for this month. It took a lot to admit to everyone I know on facebook that I have Alopecia, but if it means promoting awareness, and offering encouragement and support to someone else who may not be as strong, then I am glad I took that step. Thanks for being strong, and Happy Alopecia Awareness Month!
