Alopecia cat nursed back to health is looking for UK home

“A cat with alopecia found starving by the roadside in the rain is in need of a new home.

William, a white Persian, is being nursed back to health by staff at the national adoption centre run by Cats Protection at Chelwood Gate, near Haywards Heath.

The 12-year-old was found severely underweight and in an “appalling” condition when spotted struggling to find shelter in Western Road, Haywards Heath.”

Centre deputy manager Tania Marsh said: “We really don't know what happened to William - possibly he could have been dumped.

“He was in a very poor state and wouldn't have survived for much longer had he not been found and handed in to us.

“He is as skinny as a rake, totally exhausted and was obviously very cold as he struggled to shelter from the rain without most of his fur.

“We haven't been able to establish exactly what has caused his hair loss, but as it's not been cut or shaved, we think it may be some form of alopecia.

“He is very easy going and is obviously enjoying his first bit of comfort in quite some time.”

Anyone interested in offering William a home should call the centre on 01825 741330.

Nutrients. Nutrients. Nutrients! I've been doing quite a lot of research on alopecia and reading this i'm convinced 80% of our hairloss is caused by and can possibly be reversed by replenishing some nutrient or the other. I don't think some sort topical solution is going to do it for this cat. *Off to the GNC i go.

I thought there would be nothing better than a home with another alopecian ;). I know we already have a few member that have a cat with alopecia.

Please some body home this cat, bless him. I'd love to have him but have 3 dogs. I hope there is someone out there willing to spoil this little cat and give him a loving home for the rest of his life :)
