Hi :)

This past week I have come to realize;

a. I HAVE ALOPECIA AREATA
b. Yes, my hair (Or lack of rather) looks odd
c. I DON'T CARE!!

It has taken me a very long time to say that. when I was 6-10 all I wanted to do was keep my hair, then it fell out. 10-16 I just wanted to fit in with a natural looking wig and have no questions asked, it didn't work. 16 upto now I've kind of been a in a bit of a void, not really sure if I was comfortable or not. But now I can confidently say that I am bald and proud :)

Hi Liz,

It definatly does take time for acceptance. National Bald Out Day is coming up.

Liz, I understand what you are talking about. For the first 5 years I also wore a wig and just wanted to blend, but at the same time felt like I was hiding and hated it. Somewhere along the line I found myself again and was able to do what worked for me. We all have to find our own route and I am always happy to hear you found yours.

Liz, that's wonderful! I know how hard it can take to accept alopecia, but I'm right there with you on the "I don't care!" part!
Stay unique and stay proud!
Alexandra =)
