Thursday (June 21st) I went to work with my hat on as usual, but something in me wanted so much to take the hat off and wear my baldness. I confided in one of my co-workers how much I wish I had the nerve to take my hat off, because you see I wear my baldness out in public but just can't seem to do it at work. Well, my co-worker ask may I see your hat? I took it off and gave it to her, she put it in her drawer and locked it. She said now go back to your desk with your head held high. Now, I always say God has jokes. Well, this day everyone and their mama (pun) called on me to help them with any and everything. So I was up all day going all over the building with my bald head. Everyone who saw me, stated you are beautiful; love it; wish I could wear my head like that; so glad you took your hat off. Oh what a relief, I feel so much better. So today, I walked into the building proudly wearing my bald head. I give thanks to God and my sweet co-worker who locked my hat away.
Thanks Mary, I agree it does get easier. I have so much confidence in myself and my new look. Don't get me wrong, I do still have the occasional woe is me moments, but it passes. I just remember that God does not give you anything that you cannot handle.
Yeah!! Beautiful lady xx
Hi Angela, Congratulations! I know that work was my last hurdle as well. I tested it out at our office Christmas party. After that I left the hat behind too. Good on you! I truly think that society is changing. The more that other see us without a head covering the more I think it will matter less and less.
I don't know how I might have reacted towards that co-worker, but it's so good to have support. Congratulations on your "coming out ahead"! :D
