Ok ok, same old question with still not a good enough answer. Why are people ignorant to the unknown? And let me rephrase that I dont mean ignorant to be mean but what I really mean is why do people have to be so cruel? Let me tell you I am a strong person with a very stubborn personality when it comes to my daughter, but what mother isn't? Here are a few of our daily bumps and Im sure you all will agree with me on this. Alieenas AA is getting better but at the same time getting worse. The first patches that fell out they are starting to grow back in!!! Which is just great but why is it that when it starts to grow back in one place its like it falls out x2 in another place? I should not be complaining I know because some people are not fortunate to have any hair left, but Im just ranting because its my daughter.... Ok she is 5 and a lot of the kids in her class or school really dont say anything out of the way to her she might get asked ever now and again what happened and she just ever so nicely says I have AA and here is what it does and not you cant get it. I took her to the store with me the other day and as we are in the self check out line these two girls about 13 to 15 walked by and the first girl stared at Alieena so hard she almost bumped into someone, then the girl following her started to laugh at her, and the first girl pointed at Alieena and said something and made the other girl turn around and laugh....Well since I will probably never see those girls again here is what I wanted so badly to say. I am sorry that Alieena is not as "perfect" as you "think" you are!!!!! Oh why are people so mean to the unknown? Then when its not people like that its people like this.... We were out and a lady walked right up to Alieena (now let me tell you my daughter will put you in your place in a heart beat. she had a lady call her pumpkin on day and she looked at her and said my name is not pumpkin its Alieena Lynn Amos) (I about died and when I reprimanded her she said well mommy thats not my name, you gave me my own special name and thats the name I want) ok back to my story. So this lady walked right up to Alieena and bent down and put her hands on her knees and said honey your mommy needs to hide the scissors better!! she then looked up at me and said see what happens when you dont hide the scissors, maybe you need a better hiding spot!! Before I could pick my mouth up off the floor Alieena looked at her and said ma'am I know better than to play with scissors. the lady looked at her and said well then what happened to all your hair. Alieena looked at her and said I have AA and some times her hair falls out. The lady just said oh and that was it walked away. For my daughter I bite my tongue.

As a general rule, Kids are MEAN! Plain and simple. Especially in their teen years. Most of them don't even realize how they hurt people, but trust me, sooner or later they will. For your daughter to react the way she did makes her wise beyond her years. I'm 42 and I don't think I would have been so mature about it. :) I haven't been, in fact. I have universalis now, but in the beginning, I took a lot of flack from both friends and strangers. I'm more embarassed by my reactions than I was by my bald spots.

Kudos to you Alieena! I hope I can be that strong some day. :)

Alieena is a strong little girl thanks to you mom! Your "biting your tongue" is probably the best thing you could have done in that instance. Alieena handled things well and will continue to do more educating of the masses from the sounds of it! Be PROUD of her strength as well as your own ^^
