I just want to say, after having AU for 2 yrs, I am sick and tired of doctors knowing nothing about it. I have gotten them once...and with other medications, my eyebrows are growing back. I also have hairs on my head now. This is the first thing that has worked for me in two years. I moved to the D.C area, and went to a Dr today for shots. He didnt want to do them because he says A) they dont last ( I KNOW this already...that have to be done once a month) and B) they will leave scars. So he says, go to Georgtown, and they will give you some new medication for psoriasis...where you will have to be monitored and can cause serious bone marrow loss, and other side effects. Hm this sounds much safer than a scar!! Then he went on to tell me that Alopecia is very hard to treat...( did any of you know that?!) He told me everything that I already know...and it was a waste of my time, and $20 co pay.
My point is this...you cant just go to any derm. when you have alopecia as bad as I do...you have to go to someone who specializes in alopecia. Dr. Daly in NY was great...he's the only one that could get my body to grow hair. Now I have to find someone here...but its not that easy! You cant just type in alopecia specialists...because then you get a bunch useless sites. If anyone knows any good derms in D.C, or how I can find one, please let me know....because I cant go to another Doctor that keeps telling me the same old story.

About 10 years ago I started receiving shots of cortisone into my scalp in hopes that growth would occur. I also went once a month and yes, it was both physically and mentally painfully, although, I did see results. However, I don't think I could deal with a shot into the eyebrow area....OUCH!! Anyway, about 5 years ago I found this cool website called IBROWSERS....they are basically fake eyebrow tattoos. You put them on by wetting the "tat" and voila...you have eyebrows for the day. They cost about $20 for a pack of 20? I haven't used them in awhile so I forget. They worked well in the summer because when I would sweat the fake eyeliner eyebrows would smug a bit. These don't smug. http://www.ibrowsers.ca/index.html

yea...I have tried something like that and I didn't like how they looked. I have permanent makeup. In my opinion, it's better than drawing them on ( I was terrible at it...honestly..even with stencils). I was trying to grow hair on top of those. I guess I was being greedy. lol I am waiting for mine to fade, and going to someone better. The woman I went to did not do a very good job. ***For anyone out there who is considering permanent makeup..pay the extra $$...and get someone GOOD** Mine are even..but they look drawn on. I wanted more of a stroke effect. They are fading pretty fast though.
