Does anyone experience more loss during certain months?

I've noticed that for the last three years, my daughter loses the most hair in August - Sept - Oct. Just wondering if there is any connection there... it just seems odd.

Thanks in advance for your insight!

More people I have heard to grow hair with more sunlight. Hm. Maybe vacation location changes, foods, parenting changes, sadness being apart from friends, hanging around more pets or summer foods, dirt or lotions?

Hey there - just saw the dermatologist at Cleveland Clinic yesterday. She said two interesting things - first is that the large part of the alopecia areata community suffers the most loss between the months of Aug - Nov and then it starts to rebound. She didn't have an explanation other than to say that the cycle is usually four weeks long and to do the "pull" test to know if it is still occuring.

Secondly, she said that ferratin (spelling?) levels are very important to hair loss (this is the body's ability to store iron as I understood it). My daughter's iron was okay, but ferratin was terribly low. We shall see!

That's my two cents from this visit. Happy Weekend! :)
