You may want to check out the information on the National Alopecia Areata Foundation site the section on Alopecia Areata in school.
If I were you I would do what some other parents have done. 1. go and talk to the principal and the teacher and educate them about alopecia. 2, ask if you and your daughter can do a presentation for her class to teach them about alopecia and why she is wearing a wig. 3. ask about sending a letter home to all the parents telling them about it so that if their little kid comes home and starts talking about it the parents won't freak out. some parents actually do a presentation for all the kids in the school so that when on the bus or the playground your daughter won't be picked on. if she can talk about it and show the kids her wig she will diffuse any bullying.. her confidence will run the show. if you are nervous or freaked out then she will be since our kids pick up on our emotions. so show her the confidence to be out there and talk about it. the worst part of growing up with this disease for me was the secretiveness I had to live with and still do at age 69 because of the stress and fear that I learned to live with my entire life. don't let that happen to your daughter. Free to be who she is and to talk about it.
