Hey Gang,

Just wanted to share some good news with you all.

At our NAAF support group this past wed night we had 2 members present who grew all there hair back over the summer. Yay!!! That makes 3 in our group now.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Thanks for the positive news, Jeffrey. Maybe I am speaking for myself, but I don't think that all alopecians necessarily want their hair to grow back, though. People ask me all the time what I'm doing to help it grow back, or they ask if I think it will ever come back. My response to them is that while I appreciate their concerns, I hope that my hair never comes back! My life with a bald head is so much easier than when I had hair! My showers are soooo fast, and when I work-out before work in the morning, my "primp" time takes about half as long as the other ladies in the locker room who have to blow dry and style their hair every day. I just pop my wig on and off I go! And the wigs I have now are so much more beautiful than any hair I had ever grown on my own.

The other day I was talking to someone about my alopecia, and he said "Oh, I know what that is, my cousin suffers from it." And I politely interjected "I certainly do not suffer from alopecia, I feel infintely lucky to have it!" And that is the honest-to-goodness truth. So while many of you may pray for the return of your hair (and if that is your hope, then I am with you all the way), I love my hairless, alopecia life!! :)

Hello Jeffrey!

Awesome news!! yoo hoo! So reassuring to hear some good news.... thanks for sharing! How's your re-growth doing? Still seeing more dark hairs? I have not doubts that will be your story one of these days!

Hey Natalie- I am happy you are happy! :) And like you I hope that everyone finds the answers to their prayers what ever they maybe! :)

Howdy Doo,

I actually kinda sorta like having alopecia too. If I didn't I wouldnt have such wonderful friends.
I'm not really sure where I am with my alopecia. More and more hair is sprouting. Scalp is a 60/40 blend of dark and white. Arms are sprouting lots of white. Legs are sprouting dark.
It's all good whatever happens.

Hugz,

Jeffrey

I grew hair while in San Francisco, too. Must be that loss of inhibitions...

Hi Aimee, I have alopecia universalis too. I agree with you.I wish I had my eyelashes and eye brows, but I don't miss shaving. Please let me know how you make out with the eye brow tattoo. I have been thinking about doing that. Are you going to someone that specializes in doing eye brows? I used to have full eye brows and long eyelashes, I miss them as much as the hair on my head....

Jeffrey, that is great news about your friends hair coming back, Did they do anything special? or did it just come back on it's own? How long was it gone? I guess there is always hope...Linda

Hi Linda,
One of the gals went to Costa Rica for 2 months and voilla. She had been AU for 3 years.
The other guy 6 years with all different stages of alopecia.
So always know that there is hope and the chance you could grow it all back.

You have a great attitude, Natalie!

I love having no hair from the neck down! And, I don't want my scalp hair to grow back unless it ALL comes back. I'm spoiled with not having to shave my head at all.

I found eyeliner tattoos to be a sufficient substitute for having eyelashes, and haven't bothered with fake lashes. After being AU for almost a year, I'm now growing eyebrows, lashes, and other (appropriate) hair between my brows and my chin. Who knows what will happen?
