I started using Rogaine a few years back because i thought that my eyelashes were falling out. my doctor suggested i put it on my eyebrow area every night and blood flow would supposedly bring it to my eyelashes and hopefully stop them from falling out. Within a few weeks my eyelashes stopped shedding and in a few months they had mostly grown back. Maybe six months to a year later, I noticed that I had eyebrow hairs coming in. I used temporary eyebrow tattoos at the time so I had to shave my eyebrow hairs. I noticed that more and more hairs were coming in and it seemed silly to keep shaving my eyebrows off so I decided to stop the tattoos and see what happened. Soon I had thick full eyebrows!! I've had them for about a year now and it has made such a difference!! no more hassling with temp tattoos or trying to draw them in evenly! I'm so grateful. I thought I would post this because it's really no hassle at all to put Rogaine on your eyebrows every night before bed and if it worked for me maybe it will work for others. Rogaine is kind of expensive but if you just take a q-tip and wipe it on to your eyebrows once a day the bottle lasts a really long time. I would never have guessed that I would get my eyebrows back, I had been without them for soooo long. I still use it basically every night and my eyebrows and eyelashes have been consistently full.

You have given me hope! I will be buying some this weekend. I think I want eyebrows and lashes more then I want my head hair back.

Target has their own brand of men's strength minoxidil or rogaine. Can't remember what their label is called but is cheaper with same ingredients. We were told by our derm to use men's strength also. :)

I just got my permanent makeup redone today. It's worked out best for me. When the tattoos fade, I put some brow powder on quickly using the tattoo as a guide.

I grew my eyebrows completely back again this year for 8 months, then they fell out. I didn't think about using Rogaine on the brow area....has anyone checked with a doctor about this? I'm going to ask my dermatologist.

to Imaxtrading: you said you are using something that works for your alopecia. can you give more details, i.e. what kind of alopecia, areata, universalis, or totalis? have you lost your hair before or is this the 1st time and 1st time using this drug?
how long did it take before it worked?
is it a pill? side effects?

Well I tried the men's Rogaine on my eyebrows last night and I woke up looking like Frankenstein!! I am all puffy around my forehead and eyebrow area. This sucks!!!! Now I look even more crazy then I did yesterday. LOL, alopecia wins again.

This is how my dermatologist responded to my question:

"Should be relatively safe-be careful putting it just on the eyebrows"

If I hadn't just gotten my eyebrows tattooed again this morning, I'd give it a try. Maybe after I heal. I do remember one thing I was told about Rogaine - once you start using it to grow hair, you can never stop...if you do, they hair falls out. I don't know if that's true.
