Wow George you got pulled through the ringer on that one.
I dont have any of the signs or symptoms you describe other than the alopecia. Lucky me.

You live strong too.

I've been gluten-free since March.....this being discovered through some blood-work. I was very tired all the time, anemic and my thyroid was going crazy. I've had low thyroid for 7 years now but it was only recently that I was put in the Hashimoto category since my thyroid has been unable to remain calm. So, since I've been hypothyroid for a while now....and then the AA started 2 years ago, it was only natural to conclude that I had a gluten intolerance...especially after an allergy test that resulted in a dairy allergy. I think that dairy products were causing the noticeable unhappiness in my stomach......the gluten, too was causing my stomach to be unhappy...but not that I could feel....but see as it began to stick out. *sigh* So, since my stomach was so unhappy, there were and still are a lot of antibodies in my body doing harm to things like my hair. In these months that I've been gluten-free, I have not had any new patches of hair loss. I still lose a lot of hair every day but no new patches. My patches from the Spring that I lost are growing in finally. I had recent blood-work done and my thyroid has calmed down. The antibodies are fewer and my iron is up. I've also been taking additional supplements and cod liver oil. So, that's my current path. There seems to be more and more information out there about hair loss and gluten intolerance....it makes sense I suppose since autoimmune disorders generally tend to present themselves in little groups. *sigh* Who knew the thyroid could have so much control over our bodies? I hope your stomach feels better.

This thread is interesting but confusing--my daughter developed alopecia while on a strict gluten and cow-dairy free diet. I'm linking it to the fact that she has been on prevacid pretty much since birth and am going to see her ped. next week to ask him to test her B12 levels. We already tested zinc which came out fairly normal. What else should I have him look into?

Ive heard good things about the Total health institute out in wheeling illinois Dr. Nemic eccepts some ppo plans and claims all deseases can be cured he has a radio show on am 1160 at i think 3:00 on fridays also you can google total health institute in wheeling illinois and read what he is all about I personnally have not gone because i have HMO and he excepts some PPO insurance plans also he is expensive and I cant really afford to go currently be careful though with the crooks that are out there how do you know whos a con and whos not, that sucks, although when i listen to his program he makes a whole lot of sence and just personally, docs have done nothing for me at all, thats just personally though.LIVE LONG AND PROSPER ALL!
