Happy birthday to AW's founder, Cheryl Carvery-Jones! :-)
Although AlopeciaWorld.com was launched on March 7, 2008, today is also a very special day in the life of our beloved community.
Today, January 13, is the birthday of Cheryl Carvery-Jones, whose life inspired the founding of AlopeciaWorld.com not only because she has alopecia, but more so because she has a heart for everyone who is living with the condition.
Long before she and I started Alopecia World, she was already well-known for reaching out and touching the lives of other alopecians on a personal basis as well as through organizations like the Quebec Alopecia Areata Foundation (QAAF).
Thus, Alopecia World is yet another expression of her unfeigned love for her fellow alopecians and desire to provide them with a safe, inviting, and life-changing social networking website of their own.
Given that Alopecia World was born because this phenomenal woman was born, I invite you to join me in wishing her the happiest of birthdays.
I am certain that she will be grateful for your well-wishes and surprised by joy, indeed.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I truly appreciate them, and reading them all was the cap to a beautiful day.
I had a choice of what I wanted to do for my birthday. We could have gotten all dressed up and went to a fine restaurant or anything else that I wanted to do. However, this year I wanted something simpler.
I chose a small restaurant that was in the complete opposite direction of downtown Detroit. I ordered a wood fire pizza and diet coke, and my husband some pulled pork and macaroni & cheese.
There were no wine glasses, no formal clothes, and no multiple forks to choose from. In fact, we both wore our jeans. Of course, I also wore heels and makeup. ;-)
It was effortless -- just what I wanted. Another time I may want the full formal deal, but for today it was about the simple pleasures.
I feel the same way about these sincere posts, which let me know that I am blessed. So again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
