I was just wondering if it hurts any worse than anywhere else on your body to get a tatoo on your head? Anyone had one. I have a very small butterfly on my thigh with was a little painful, but want to pursue one on my head.

I didn't think it hurt at all. I did 5 sessions lasting between 7 1/2 to 9 hours each on my head. I slept through most of it. The worst part was the neck pain afterwards from sitting in odd positions. I highly recommend a massage afterwards! :)

I've heard it is more painful to get a tattoo on boney areas. I have a butterfly on my chest and it wasn't so bad (I dislike needles to begin with but the artist was really hot and took my mind off the pain :P) but my ex had a dragon in the center of his chest where the breast plate is and he nearly cried. He's a tough guy too so I'm under the impression that it really does hurt more. I've heard it hurts more to get a tat on your ankle where the bone is too. Again I suppose we all tolerate pain to different degrees so it probably depends what your pain threshold is like. I myself am considering getting a tattoo on my head, a smal butterfly to match the one on my chest hopefully before I go back to school. If you do get one be sure to post some pics and let us know about your experience! :)

Aimee, I would have to agree with you. My eyebrows hurt worse than any other tattoo I have but they were so worth it! I do have other tattoos besides my head. Hip and stomach area and none of those really hurt either so I may not be a good example.

DeeDee - I would say start small so you can see if you can handle the pain. I'm sure you'll be fine. Women handle the pain much better anyway. Make sure you post pics!
