For those of you who have significant others, I was wondering how did you tell them you had alopecia, how long did you wait, and what was their reaction? Thanks in advance :)

Hi Marie. First, thank you for your comment on my blog! I would love to read anything you have to say about working out in wigs. I am getting two next week, one human and one synthetic. I may get an even cheaper synthetic wig to just wear to the gym, but I'm not sure what I will do yet.. it's all so new (it hasn't even happened). I would love to know about how you wear yours too--tape or what? As for telling your signifcant other... I am married and my husband has known for a long time that I was potentially facing this issue. But that is my personality, to just play it straight. I think if someone loves you then it's best to be open. I can imagine it being a bit of a strain on a very new relationship, but then again, the person will find out anyway and I have found so far that people who care about me have been very accepting.

I said this to someone else asking the same question. It comes down to do you wish to continue hiding this secret, a physcial changing secret for the long term. always worried about his reaction? I know it sounds easy and its a tough choice when you think about it going sour. But I look at like this, I would rather know now than later if he is going to walk because of my alopecia. The alopecia is not going to go away anytime soon. And this is regardless if you choose to wear wigs or not. Hold your head high and know your worth and if he knows your worth also he will stand by you.
