Talk to your doctor about "pulse" steroid. Instead of taking steroids by mouth everyday, you take it every week, every two weeks or every month..but at a higher dose. So your total dose for a month is same. Most of the side effects of steroids occurs when u take steroids daily. Recent studies have shown that you can get the same benefits of daily steroids but minimal to no side-effects with "pulse" steroid.

I took prednisone, which my mom hated because she said when Grandma took it (for another reason), it made her bones brittle. I noticed my periods came on very strong and nonstop, so I changed to half a pill and then just gave up on them entirely. No use monkeying with the female reproductive system when you are dating/marrying age.

I took those a long while ago. The dermatologist wanted me to take them to "jolt" my system into growing some hair. The side effects were pretty bad (bloating, painful pimples, and facial hair among them), and once the course of oral prednisone ended, any scalp and eyebrow hair that had started to grow fell out. Thankfully, so did the moustache and beard!

Hi Sarah! I have lots of experience taking oral steroids (prendisone, in particular) in the past. It always helped my hair grow back, but as soon as I stopped taking them my hair fell out even worse :( I would suggest not taking them because they don't help in the long run anyway. Good luck with everything :)
