Hi everyone! Wanted to type this up because I see a lot of questions about this, and it took me about 2 yrs to get it down! These are my personal preferences. I like to use Revlon self adhesive lashes, and DUO glue. They can be found at CVS, and most other drug stores. The reason I use those lashes is A) extra glue on top of the adhesive really keeps these in place. I have kept them on up to 10 hrs, even cried in them ( wedding) and they never budge. B) Because of the adhesive, the lash line is already curved to fit your eye. Others I have bought are straight across! Who has flat eyes?! This shape also causes the lashes to detatch in the corners. C) Price! When I first got alopecia, I assumed the more $ I spent on things, the better. While I was correct about wigs, for lashes I was wrong. I have spent 20$ on a pair of lashes, and they were no better then the drug store brand. In fact, the Revlon lashes lasted longer.
How to put them on:
-Trim the lashes if they are too long with length and width. Should fit your eye correctly.
-Put a light liner on your eye, and any shadow that you want to use. Apply this first, if you put shadow on top of the false lash, it may cause it to lift.
-Put glue on the eyelash base.
(- Now this is something that I have done differently, but has worked for extra support) Before glue dries, place it where you would normally place the lash, and then take it right off. Just to get a small amount of glue on your eyelid.
-Make sure there is still a light layer of glue on the lash
-Apply to eye, starting from the inside corner, out. Try to get as close to the lash line as you can.
-You may want to use a tooth pick to push on the eyelash a little
-Use your finger to flare the lash up. Kind of like you would use mascara. Sometimes these lashes tend to droop down, and can look weird. So you want to make sure they flare up like normal lashes would.
-Put another layer of liner on if you wish
Bring glue and toothpick with you, and you can use toothpick to do any touch ups you may need.
These take practice!!! I have spent many hours in front of the mirror poking myself in the eye with lashes, getting glue in my eye, and cursing alopecia! But trust me,l they look so beautiful, and can really make you feel like yourself again once you learn how to put them on correctly. Good luck and Im always here for questions!
