I'm getting gray like white hair all over my head

I always had brown hair but I always wished I was a red head. I colored it bright red. A year ago i shaved what little hair I had left. The patches got smaller and smaller and it quit growing. The last couple of months my hair has been growing back very slowly I am getting more and more. Its really sparse and has no color to any of it. Any color hair would be so great. I will take gray hair over no hair any day.

Mine comes back white too, then if it is going to amount to anything changes to my natural colour when about 1/2 inch long. Lately I have sparse wiry white ones but it does not fill in. Funny how it works sometimes. Gotta wonder what the body is doing!

I look like I got electrocuted cause I have all these little white hairs sticking straight out all over my head I have had to cut them twice cause they get so long but there isn't enough of them to look like I'm getting hair it's just weird that it's never done this before but this is definatly the worse it has ever been so I just don't know what to expect this time

Hi, I'm not entirely sure what those white hairs are, or what they mean. Over the years of losing my hair and it growing back, I would have normal colored and looking regrowth, but after losing many times, what I have been left with are these white hairs, they cover at least half my head now, they have been like this for several years now, never becoming normal hairs again, this may not be your case, but while I was still hiding my loss, these white hairs would get as long as my regular hair, while never taking on color by themselves or by me trying to color them (the dye doesn't work) Like you If it would come in thicker I would be happy with the all white hair rather than no hair. I have never gotten a straight answer as to what they are or what they mean in terms of AA. It's such a mystery.

My doctor told me that it is because the disease damages the color pigment as well.

I usually have these white wispy hairs that arent really substantial. They never grow long or fill in. I dont know why! For years I was very smooth, but now I have had these for a few years?

After the steroid shots my hair will start growing back white. But then it turns to my natural hair color.

They are the stronger hairs that we do not notice regularly as they are mixed in with our regular hair. When alopecia takes away the normal hair, this is what is left. I had AU and AT, now reverse ophiasis pattern...all white. I used to be a brunette.

I've regrown 95% (give or take a few) of the hair on my head, it all started with those little white hairs. Seems after while they turn into regular hairs, as I have some that are half white and half brown on the bottom end.

I donno if you're trying to regrow your hair but if you are I highly recommend Rogaine, and 5000-10,000 mg Biotin pills everyday.

any patches of regrowth for me start transparent/white too and then like someone said if they're strong enough and get to like 1/4 inch they'll go back to brown i've asked my doctor what it means and she didn't have an answer but then again no one really has any answers about alopecia....
