Ok I'm at work and I haven't been wearing my wigs

This ignorant jerk that comes in to get his haircut just asked on of the girls I work with why I shaved my head and she said I didnt and he said oh what does she have cancer and she responded no she has alopecia and it just fell out and he said sounds like cancer to me. When he left she told us what he had said and the other girls I work with almost got as pissed as I did like if I did have cancer that would be really rude and since I don't makes it even more rude what the hell is wrong with people sometimes they can have no cooth

I often wish beauty shops would have pre-printed info sheets bout alopecia ready to hand out, because these are the first places we usually learn what has been lurking between hair strands. Maybe literature is needed for clients like that guy, too. The last sentence could read, "Clients who do not ridicule or embarrass others with hair loss will leave this establishment without their own hair quietly shaved off."

Some people are stupid and have no tact and sensitive bone in their body

For definite smooth round alopecia, let them know a DERMATOLOGIST EXPERIENCED WITH ALOPECIA is the best next step, to avoid all the mis-information, expense, trials and rudeness of general doctors. Could you scope out and list on sheet the SENSITIVE specialists in the town? Or is that advertising?

That is a great idea! Some people are so ignorant!! I'm sure he wouldn't like it if he got cancer & lost his hair.

I often coin it like this... Alopecia is like working retail. The rest of the mass quantative public does not know what it is like unitl they go through it themselves. THey are just ignorant sweetie. Just know that, and laugh it off. ; )

My hairdresser is great, she knew what it was and was really understanding, giving me a haircut that works with my spots (for now). I'm going to give her a bunch of leaflets, great tip Tallgirl. And I should tip her about where to reffer her clients, because the first doctor I met was an idiot. A agree with you about the knowledge of the public Kimberly but that the knowledge among doctors was this bad....seriously
