I recently posted a photo of myself without a hairpiece on my FACEBOOK! The Caption read as follows:
"I am tired of hiding. Some of you know this, some don't... I have Alopecia Universalis. An autoimmune disease involving rapid loss of all hair, including eyebrows and eyelashes. It is the most severe form of alopecia areata, with an incidence of .001% (1 in 100,000). Alopecia Universalis may be acute and short-lived or remain permanently. There is no known cause or cure. I have had this since Beauty College. It has effected me in so many ways (Anxiety, depression, denial, panic, etc.) I have tried so long to hide it. Im tired of it. Under the wigs and makeup... under the lie... this is who I really am. I want to talk about it. I want to be supportive to anyone who might experience this devastating condition or any similar. I am Lynny, and I am proud of who I am. I want to make this a positive and not let it keep ruling my life. Thanks for reading this. ♥"

I am still riding the high from this! I never imagined that I would find the strength to love myself, let alone allow others to see and love me just the way I am. Its gets better. I NEVER thought I'd be the one to say it, but it gets better. I have opened the dialogue to everyone in my life. Im not in a place where I go out of my home without a hairpiece, but I am going to let myself be proud of me for actually doing this. Another step in the direction of acceptance. <3
