Now according to Dr. Oz.....I have a brain tumor?????????

I know today's Oprah show was a rerun, God knows I had several people tell me months ago the revelation that my hair loss was caused by a brain tumor!!!!!!! I finally caught the episode where the infamous Dr. Oz scared the livin' crap outta this poor lady, telling her that her hairloss (oh, by the way, I'd give the world to have what she had) that she could possibly have a brain tumor causing it...........NOW....anything is possible in this crazy world, but he highly recommended her having a brain scan. WELL, fellow Alopecians.....shall we all march down to the local clinic to go get our little heads xrayed??????????
Has anyone else been hoighly upset by this show????????? or even heard of the possible cause of hairloss could be a brain tumor??? :>(

Hey there,
When I was first going through diagnosis I had the same thing said to me. I had a battery of blood tests done along with a CT scan that looked for a tumor on the pituitary gland. Was I a tad freaked out about the tumor...you could say that...along with the total meltdown I had while waiting for results (it's slow up here in Canada). Now looking back on it, I am glad that I had the tumor eliminated as a possibility, but also during the time I was having other signs symptomatic of a pituitary tumor as well.

Hey Brenda, as I said above I'm game, I'll be happy to send an email a day to the Oprah show for a month if thats what we decide. Mary had a very good point, so often on these shows it is, oh the poor things, lets do a makeover. Were want to inform & help get into the forefront the need of insurance company's, medicare & medicaid to cover wigs. What we battle & face everyday. Again, if it's a go I'm game. Let the emailing begin. Look out Oprah staff here we come.

Perhaps we should put our heads together & come up with other shows as well, Bonnie Hunt, Ellen, Today, Good Morning America. Oh! Tyra Banks, she is always speaking of inner beauty vs outer, well perhaps we should put that to the test, put your money where your mouth is sort of speak. See if we get a response. These are just some more ideas.

I am all for some public exposure, Pam......since this has happened to me, i have grown less and less feeling like this is something that must be hidden. I have become more comfortable informing curious people about the condition. I am all for writing the media (exept Tyra...she would turn it around and make it all about herself!!haha) Let's go, folks!!!!!!!!!

hey ,mike....i am curious if they gave you a shunt after your surgery. my son's girlfriend had a brain tumor at age 8 and just last wednesday she had to have her shunt replaced after 20 years. They had to shave her georgeous waist legnth curly red hair and now her and I look like the baldie twins....at least hers will grow back. this whole brain tumor issue MAY pertain to a rare few people but definitely not the majority.
