My husband and I went to Target for some household essentials. I happened to meet him over in the men's section where he was trying on pants. I saw a few caps that were very unisex looking, thought I might try them on and pick one or two up for the summer. Funky looking little caps, right up my alley. I was wearing a Buff. Of course, in order to try the cap I needed to remove my buff. I walked over to the full length mirror about 5 feet from where my husband was. I removed my buff put on cap #1. Looked great. I yelled over to my husband "how's it look?" His response was "very hip, you should buy it". While I removed cap #1 to try cap #2, I saw a young woman in the mirror in the background with an aghast look on her face, like she'd just seen an alien. As if I should not have shown my head at all. I thought she was going to pass out.

I broke out in hysterical laughter. Not a lot of difference between a bald female and a bald male. One is accepted in society, no questions asked, the other isn't. How stupid.

I enjoyed EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

The only reason my head was covered was because it was cold outside today. Come summer, this alopecian will rock my Royal Baldness.

Love yourselves; Dig your "selves".

Lili

P.S.: Purchased 3 caps!

Don't they know that *we* are the normal ones. :)

You should have said, 'don't you like my hairstyle?' * grins*.

I hope we get a fashion show of these said caps.

LOL It's weird how uptight people can get over someone else's hairstyle! But it will only take the efforts of a few pioneers, such as your good self and others here on this website to change society's perception of what is acceptable, and realise that diversity is to be applauded not criticized.

Hey Lili you are being openly bald 40 YEARS after Isaac Hayes and Pat Evans were together, both of couse with bald heads.

Your blogs always cheer me up. Rock on!

Thank you, David. I saw Isaac Hayes at Philharmonic Hall when he was promoting "Hot Buttered Soul". He came out as is persona "Black Moses" in a biblical-like looking robe with his head covered. They did a whole ritual culminating with the removal of his hood, head owed and shiny. I'll NEVER forget it. Thanks for reminding me of Isaac Hayes. Rock on, yourself. We WILL change the world. Too many hangups on looks.

Oh I also meant to add, when I was still in my mid teens and living with my parents I still had hair, and it was quite long. I was combing it in front of a big mirror in the living room. My mum's brother came to visit, and stood in the doorway watching me. He was also aghast, and looked over at my mum with a disapproving experssion. I guess he must have been thinking "How could you let your boy be like this?" LOL Well it was obviously because she was a lot more intelligent than him, and she loved me (and still does I'm glad to say) for what I am.

Bravo, David. My Mom was very much like yours. And if she were still alive, I know she'd be in my corner. We should all be so lucky. (BTW it was Mom who took my sister and I to Philharmonic Hall to see Isaac Hayes).

That's great. So did you see the Ohio Players as well? I never saw either I'm afraid, through I've been to hundreds of wonderful concerts over the years. If you ever come over to this side of the pond, be sure to let me know where you're performing.

When folks are rude enough to stare at my head, I stare right back. I think they get more uncomfortable when I look right back at them, because they know that I know they have a problem with my head. 99% of the time, they break the look and move away, and I go right on about my business. People are stupid sometimes.

P.S. I can't wait to see your hats!

I do what kastababy does.....I stare straight back at them. Some look away...others hold the stare for a while...but I always make sure they are the ones to look away first!
